I have a 2004 Yukon Denali, and for the past 8 months or so, even when i know the door is closed all the way, a message appears on my dash saying that the door is open. I'm assuming that a wire is clogged with dirt or is maybe loose, but I'm confused on where to start. I've heard some people say it could be the body control module but id like to not replace that if i don't have too. the speakers work just fine, the door handle works, and the window regulator works just fine, the only thing that I've noticed is that it says the door is open when its not, it even locks when i press the lock on my key fob, or the driver door control panel. just wondering if anyone has had the same experience. Thanks so much in advance!

I would suspect the door latch itself.

Open the door and lock the latch at the door and play with it and see if the light goes out or open the door panel and inspect to see if a wire or connection is damaged.

I don't know the source of how/where the truck gets its door closed confirmation. Is there possibly a push button contact within the door well somewhere that needs to be pushed in fully by the closed door to confirm a door closure. I know on my '97, there were push buttons for the front doors for that purpose.

The ajar switch is part of the door latch, will have to replace the whole assembly.

so when the door is open i use a pencil to mess with the latch and it does seem to close and stay closed, they also close and lock when i lock the doors, and stay closed. but the message doesnt go away, there was one time a friend closed it and it went off for a couple days, and then it came back on so im hoping its a bad wire that just needs a cleaning, ill spray some cleaner after disconnecting the battery.

It certainly can't hurt. Clean up all electrical connectors, WD-40 the mechanical components.

I've always been amazed how often a repair is accomplished simply by disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly.
