DDM tuning hids

Aligning is goofy on aftermarket... the screw furthest to the outside finder is up/down and screw to the inside is left/right. But it is goofy because with my expierience, I go up and adjust and then do the left or right. If you go left or right to far then th sucker starts going up!

The way I have always adjusted HID's on the vehicles I have done....is by glare. Find a dark road at night and set out two reflectors on the road and adjust your glo. That has worked best for me. Damn if you put some tape on the garage door and get them suckers aligned, go drive it at night and them suckers are all kiddywampus!

When aligning my lights what exact screws are you talking about? I have no idea which ones??

There is nothing better than OEM projector retrofit. Reflector lights suck at putting light out on the road period, and ebay projectors design for halogen bulbs suck too.

Whoever wants more info on what superior lighting is really about.

When aligning my lights what exact screws are you talking about? I have no idea which ones??

When you open your hood look down at your lights, your adjustment screws are right there. look where you actually put you bulb in....them adjustment screws are right ther in that bracket. if it were a snake...it come out and bite cha!

im about to order up my hid's from ddm (and do the hi6 mod) but was curious to see if any of you guys have issues with foglight housings melting from the heat? I want to run 55w 6k in my headlights and was hoping to run the same for my foglights..

55w will probably melt your stock fogs.

thats what i was thinking too, my buddy has the same (55w 6k) ddm hid's in his 03 cobra and his foglight housings started to melt just a little bit. I would like to avoid anything of the sort.

The whole electrical idea is what i know the least of in any vehicle. from what i read i think if I run 55w (headlight) and 35w (fogs) and 6k bulbs in both the headlights will still be brighter then the fogs right?..So should i run like 35w 7k hid's in the foglights? to even them both out..

I would go 6000k for both but I've heard the higher wattage washes out some of the color so if anything go 55w 6000k for lows and 35w 5000k for fogs.

Mine melted the shield in-front of the bulb. So I opened them and took it out, Then re-adjusted my fogs lower, haven't been flashed by oncoming yet....

I'm running 55w 6000k heads and fogs.

Oh I hear ya! definetly takin the advice. I just ordered 8 new bulbs about an hour ago. 4 55w 9006 6k and 4 55w 880 6k. That will take care of the Saturn& the Yukon...If i like them, i guess i start swapping out my whole fleet of toys headlights. Yeah thanks guys...you just hit my wallet LOL!

So you know, since you had a misunderstanding about the Kelvin rating, It's not the bulbs that are 55w, it's the ballast. Since you already have 55w ballasts you will be fine. DDMTuning sells only one bulb that can handle both 35w and 55w, it just depends which ballast you connect it to. So the 6000k bulbs you ordered will be bluer if connected to 35w and on the whiter side if connected to 55w.

So basically just need to buy a 55w 5000k 880 for my fogs and the lights are interchangeable between ballasts?

I've never had any melting issues in my Yukon or my Saturn Vue or the Grand Am. All 3 vehicles have 55w 10k in heads and fogs( which for some reason I have to swictch them all out to 6k now with this new wonderful info...but anyways). Saturn and GrandAm have 10 hrs of night driving a week on them and the have not melted. Maybe it has somethin to do with our -30 windchills!

Yes.

Bulbs don't matter. You can swap 35 and 55w ballasts to adjust brightness. At least typically. Down-side is by doing so you are over-watting the bulbs, which are really made to handle 35w. They will run 55w, but won't last as long. More power=shorter bulb life, basically.

There are some bulbs that are 50w rated. I'm running Morimoto 5five 50w bulbs in my headlights. They don't lose color with the extra power and should last longer than a standard 35w capsule. That said, I think the old Osram Xenarc 35w bulbs I was running with the 55w ballasts were considerably brighter.....

HID bulbs are definitely not created equal. I've tried quite a few at this point, and the European bulbs seem superior.

Oh yeah, as far as 55w HID's melting fogs: I've toasted one set of lenses on my Denali fogs. They didn't melt, but got scorched on the inside-center of the lenses. Had another set get water in them and then bad electrical things happened, so I'm not sure if that had anything to do with the wattage, but there was definite melting involved....lol.

I am now running a retro'd set of fogs in projectors with 55w HID's. No melting issues thus far.

Exactly as long as everything is from DDM.

Use your 35w ballasts on the new 5000k bulbs and use the 55w ballasts from the kit with the 6000k bulbs.

Another one suckered into the "blue is better" line of B.S....

Kman is right; 4300-5000k is your best bet for the most usable light. The blue light that you are using looks bright, but it's actually significantly less lumens. And what's pissing people off is probably the fact that bright blue is extremely hard for our eyes to process since it's not a natural color of illumination and our eyes are simply not made for it. It causes a lot more stress on the eyes of on-coming traffic than the whiter and slightly yellow hues even though they are actually technically brighter.

I'ma gonna guess you don't have projectors, either, which further exacerbates the glare issue....

I had IPCW projector headlights in my OBS and they sucked. The headlights used an H3 bulb and were really dim. The build quality is good but the actual projectors are crap.

Where do I ship the beer? 6k are hell of a lot better and softer on the eyes and seamed to reflect a lot better! The color is like a soft peach.....Thumbs up. I'll get all me new bulbs comin for all the toys in about an hour.
