My opinion, for what it is worth, is that a leaking seal should not be ignored. However, I am very aware of how budgets and time play a factor into vehicle maintenance. If you do not have the funds, nor the time at the moment to fix it properly, start budgeting for it.

you can buy a complete rear cover with gasket. Its much easier that way.

also,all this talk about thicker oil and such, you're just adding a band-aid.
