recently, the cluster completely died on my 03 tahoe. now i have a weak start and a low idle. i've checked the battery and alternator multiple times and they always check out okay.
at first, the odometer screen looked scrambled, the gauges would not work, and sometimes the odometer screen would remain lit even when the truck was off.
eventually, the cluster died completely, and i began having starting problems.
i replaced the starter, however the cluster is still dead.
now, i continue to have a low idle, a weak start, and no gauges. i called the local gm dealer and since my truck is under 70k i am eligible for a new cluster, but they emphasize it is uncommon for the entire cluster to die in the event of the suggested symptoms for this recall.
before i leave my truck to the dealer's mercy, does anyone have experience with this type of problem?
thanks
