I know there not Tahoes or Yukons but we have 3 GMC Sierras for work trucks. All 3 are right at 100,000 miles 2 are 23s and 1 2024. 2 have have trans rebuilt and the least driven one shop said it needs inner motor work. Started missing now needs motor gone thru! What is going on?

Transmission problems are almost all valve body problems. OE valve bodies are trash. NextGen Drivetrain has valve body upgrade kits, but even with this you need an aftermarket trans pan with a drain and perform a drain and refill of the trans every 15-20k max IMHO.

You did not mention the engines in these trucks. Out a Range DFM disabler and a catch can on them, change the oil every 4k miles and use 0W40 oil. Chances are the engine that needs internal work has a valve lifter problem, otherwise the engines general size due to bearing failures.

Good luck.

Our 4k mile 2026 AT4 ultimate almost killed my family yesterday. I accelerated hard merging onto the freeway and heading into a turn the engine shut off, the screen said push to restart and wouldn't work and thankfully i was able to coast to a flat area on the shoulder.

We could have easily crashed and my whole family died.

It screen remained on and would. It would not restart nor could I shift it into neutral. App says engine/transmission service now.

Onstar was not helpful and eventually we left it with the key in it and 7 hours later after dozens of back and forth with onstar they got a tow truck with a dolly for the wheels and it is now at the dealership waiting for them to open tomorrow.

I am very upset about it trying to kill my family.
Didi you report this to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, they are reviewing the thousands of complaints similar to your. Thank God you guys are okay !

First and foremost, I’m very happy your family is safe. However, I am very disappointed that OnStar didn’t do their part and that GM is allowed to keep selling these vehicles when it seems they only care about monetary gains vs the safety of its customers

I went to pick up the Yukon last week with the new engine. They scrached up the folded side mirror real bad so I walked out, the dealership replaced it and I am picking it up tomorrow. We have been driving a 32k Terrain loaner for a month now. The dealer says GM wont extend the warranty. When I get the paperwork I will file with NTSB and file a lemon law claim. The lawyer says we can either push to have them take it back (and presumably get my 106k back, less the ceramic coating and undercoating and weathertech floormats) or maybe they will settle with 10k cash to us and maybe an extended powertrain warranty.

It is really my wife's car, and she really liked it. I am torn whether we should give it back and get a used big lexus suv (gotta be more relaiable)

Recent Big Lexus vehicles w/ the V6 TwinTurbo are blowing up too...for main and crank bearings...My Gut says Toyota will fix their issues before GM does...but that Toyota issue has been out there a few years too.

QX 80 would be my second choice if I can’t find a GM. You can get lucky, by searching the good rental companies that sell their 1 - year old rentals. ( Ask them for a “one-driver- company-lease” )….. They sell the rentals for a low price….. Rental companies don’t “own” the cars & trucks….. They lease them…So the buyer is the 1st owner… full warranty……. You can negotiate a price….. A friend bought an Enterprise car for $10,000 less than a standard used price.

After I get the new engine back tomorrow how long should I run it before I demand a PICO test?

I’m afraid that is a design issue . They changed the main caps and crank girdle and how they register. The original Lexus design was different.

I filed NTSB and now a lemon law claim. If I take cash and an extended warranty and the engine blows again I cant file another claim. Wife really likes the car. What should I do?

In my opinion, if I were you, I'd get rid of it asap. Like you said, if your new engine blows up you, can't file another claim. Since the new 6.2's are still blowing up, you don't have any guarantees that this one will last either.

It's a tough decision as you don't know what will happen in the future. Even if you get something else, it may have trouble as well. I bought a new 2004 Cadillac SRX and it was in the shop for significant engine oil leaks 3 times in 1st 5 weeks of ownership - they eventually tore the engine apart to a fair degree and rebuilt it. As I look back, I could have done a lemon law.

Over the last 22 yrs I've put at least $1,000/year on average (yes - around 50% of original price) into it from many engine repairs to bad transfer case to AWD major repairs along with normal repairs - but it's still running and fun to drive - so much history.

In these types of situations, you know yourself best - will you melt down if it fails again? If so, then move on. If you are more or less a zen type of person - then, since she's involved, perhaps defer to her choice or at least get buy-in so you're covered :)

Take the cash. Look for another very similar Yukon with a 5.3. Might find one now without the fuel management and auto stop? Runs fine on regular gas.

So we picked up our 23 seirra from the dealer after they said needs an engine. Cylinder 1 bent valve and rocker arm. Drove it there with no problems and was quoted an new engine. They put it back together and we have been driving it for 2 days with no engine light and no miss! Work house said no on a new engine.Tell me what I am missing.

And boss said if they can get the 3600 paid to get it diagnosed they will sell it. Dealer doesn't want it.
