I have a few options for ceramic tint, never done it before. Putting it on ‘25 Yukon XL AT-4 w/3.0. Vehicle is outside year round in Northern Virginia. Pricing is for all side and rear windows.

Options are below; would be great to hear pros/cons, and which is best for the $. Especially interested in the differences between 3m Ceramic IR and the Evolve.

Suntek Evolve - $650
Llumar IRX - $650
Llumar Autobahn - $750
3m Ceramic IR - $499

I have the 3M on my DD. It's been 5 years and it still looks good. This car sits outside in all 4 seasons.

I’m in Cinci and every glass including the windshield and big sunroof was $930 for ceramic with lifetime warranty. He even removed the door panels to make sure the tint goes down to the bottom edge of the glass. 21 Tahoe HC

This is what my installer used for our HC a few months ago and so far we’re happy with the results, but I have to say that our car is garage kept so I only had the front windows done to match the rear windows as close as possible.

I had the 15% ceramic tint installed on the ‘25 HC by the same guys who did the installation on my ‘01 Tahoe over 24 years ago and the film is just starting to bubble up a little so I trust the quality of the installation that was done with the new Tahoe. The ‘01 Tahoe has lived her entire life outside so I think it’s worth the price for a quality installation and a quality product.

Save your money.. do the fronts at 35% ceramic and the top with clear ceramic, your vehicle will be 50% cooler. People spend a fortune and don’t to the sun roof.. that is the heat problem…

If you dont have ceramic on all of your glass, your ride it’s not going to be as cool on the inside as it could be. Darkness does not equal lower inside temps.

Agreed. Are there any objective measurements of heat rejection, separate from the visible light rejection?

This is fact. Cheaper and darker is hotter. Personal opinion there's no tint percentage higher than 5% except for below the brow on windshield that can be like 42% with a 5% brow.

Ceramic tinting is a premium product that reduces outside glare and blocks nearly 100% of the sun’s harmful UV rays. What sets it apart from traditional dyed tinting is that ceramic film helps keep a car’s interior cool by rejecting heat-generating infrared rays. Ceramic window tint does not interfere with the vehicle’s keyless entry, GPS, mobile phone, radar detector, or other features that use radio frequency technology.

And For the extra cost there's nano ceramic tint.

Nano ceramic tint is the pinnacle of window tint technology. It incorporates nano ceramic particles, which improve its ability to block UV rays and reject heat. Nano ceramic tint can reject up to 90% of solar infrared light, making it highly effective in keeping your car cool. This advanced tint also offers impressive clarity and minimal signal interference, ensuring your devices work seamlessly.

The only thing I’ve seen as an example was the demo device with two panels, one ceramic and one without. Your hand could feel the massive difference on both using the same light source.

OK, but you know how there are measurements of tinting by percentage?
Are you saying there is NO objective measurement of UV or infrared blockage?
We just have to use the rules of thumb that ceramic tint is better than non-ceramic,
and nanoceramic is better than mere ceramic? That's all we get? No measurements?

They all seem to clam 100% UV protection.

Find the manufacturer and model of the tint you’re being quoted. You should be able to look up the performance specs on the manufacturer website, and there are definitely measurable metrics for IR rejection and total solar energy rejection. I went with FormulaOne by Llumar, and here’s an example of a spec sheet from their various tint products and tint levels: https://llumar.com/content/dam/east...o/formulaone-window-film-performance-data.pdf

The 3M Ceramic IR is a great film. I have Crystalline on all my stuff because I like the color better but the Ceramic IR offers great performance for the money. You will need to do the entire windshield if you actually want heat rejection though.

I have actually tested a variety of window tinting with a laboratory UV-A meter. My goal was to block UV-A, this is believed to be a cause of skin cancer. After testing about six different types. I found that “XPEL” did the best job. You cannot find this product at “tint shops”. Some car dealerships install it. I ended up going to their Dallas facility, “XPEL Dallas”. I ended up liking this product so much that I had my other tinting REMOVED from a different vehicle. I have NO financial relationship with this company other than being a customer.
