Can someone help with trailer braking?

Found 2012 Silverado 2500 with 180k miles for 9k. Looking at pictures, where is the receiver and why is there a bumper hitch instead on such a big truck? Damn, and I thought I found what I was looking for...

Installing a receiver is an easy job. If the rest of the truck checks out it may be worth considering.

What is everyone's take on hitch receiver adapters? Found equalizer anti sway hitch with load balancing local in my area. The shank is 2", which is what my Tahoe has. I'm now shopping for 2500Hd Silverado, which has 2 1/2 receiver. Are 2" to 2 1/2" adapters safe so I can use the equalizer in Silverado and Tahoe if need to?

You should be good with the adapter sleeve.

Likely going to pick up 2018 3500HD today. Some minor damage as it is a work truck. 101k miles, $19,5k, 6L Gas. New bumper included in sale, tailgate will be attempted to be fixed (don't want to spent another 500-80p junk part). Hopefully I am not making a stupid decision and will be able to resell when time comes (may be within a year). Will have the truck inspected.

That's one big-ass truck. Take care of it and it's very likely you could sell it for what you paid in a year or two. Those things are tanks.

Well the Silverado was a lemon. 101000miles but 5001 engine hours, underbody work, diff swapped from 2500, and other minor things. It all reminded me how much I always hated dealers–they'll sell you a dream! Next stop 2015 GMC 2500 with 186k miles for 20k, but diesel!

Thats a good price for a diesel. The diesel will pull ANYTHING...

Make sure you get it inspected by a mechanic who can read codes.

The DPF is expensive to replace....or just have it deleted....

Thanks for heads up. The owner is an older countryman with southern accent that own a small tiling service. The vehicle is company owned and mainly highway operated to mainly move working from point A to point B. I hope it is a good truck. Next time we meet, I will have it inspected. Thanks for the DPF tip. I think it was deleted, but I'll check.

I had a 2015 Silverado Duramax Crew Cab. Loved it, just hated the ride on Detroits crappy roads. Sold it for stupid money - mid 40's and bought the Denali for less than half that. The Denali pulls my 35 ft Center Console.....which is probably 12,000 incl trailer. I actually don't want to weigh it bc I know I am waaaaay over my tow limit.

I am still shopping. Now settled on 2008 F250 6.4 diesel with 193k miles for 10k. Cosmetically clean and mechanically looks good. Will have it fully inspected and scanned on Sat. Anything to look for?

Wasn't it the 6.0 and the 6.4 that were the ones the avoid? The 7.3 and the newer 6.7s were the way to go if my ferd memory serves me. Whatever you get, you need to find a powerstroke custom shop. They'll know what to delete and fix to ensure the motor runs without issue. They have similar things like afm delete to really harden the power train.

6.0 can be fixed. 6.4 is a ticking time bomb. Not if, when.

Thanks. Did some further research and decided to avoid it. The search continues.

Bah that really sucks. I really liked that generation of the f250/f350...but I heard the motor options were a nightmare.

6.0 can be great, I actually like that body style the best. (03-07) they can be found studded/deleted in good shape around $10-15k.
The 6.7's have been fairly reliable. 1st generation had some issues, but those should mostly be taken care of by now.
