@YukonCrazy

You might not have to remove anything. Without the front axle and differential in the way, you might have a clear path from under the truck to get to them.

just did this job yesterday and all i can say: PITA!!!!! those bolts on the frame gm must have used loctite b/c they were hard as hell to remove!! i didnt have any pneumatic tools, good old fashion elbow grease and my hands, back, stomach, head are all aching! straight forward as stated above and the place i used to jack up the engine just enough to get the mount out is right there on the very edge of the oil pan on the drivers side (i removed the drivers side mount only) there is a "square" block that sticks out, its not too wide or big but its enough to get a 2x4 on that square and i slowly raised up on that point and it worked great. mind you, its not on the oil pan, its a very massive piece of block, there are 2 on that side but you only need to get something on one of them to raise it up. did not remove wheel liner, im only 5'7" and small so did everything from the top and underneath. those bolts are very tricky to get them back. the frame mount bolts are very easy, those 3 are right there but the other 4 well, you have to play around with the jack (up and down, up and down) but i got 2 started on one side and raised the mount to release the pressure enough to get the other 2 started. its a PITA to say the least tho!! if i had to do it again, some type of pneumatic tool would have been VERY helpful!! the frame bolts were a pain to remove, there were "stuck" on . but its done and the truck drives like new! any questions, any way i can be helpful, i just signed up after i used the info here to gather up the courage to do the job. THANKS!

Can you confirm the bolts that go to the frame are 18mm and the ones that go to motor are 15mm? I sprayed my threads with blaster today hoping that will help when I attempt tomorrow.

Good afternoon Jennifer. My name is Dennis Reid. I ordered my 2009 Tahoe the way I wanted it from Gordan Chevrolet in Jacksonville, Florida. I have 92,800 miles on it now and have enjoyed the vehicle. Fluids are changed every 3000-6000 miles. Vehicle has always been garage kept. Windows are tinted, even my front windshield has been tinted all the way since I got it. My dash cracked towards the end of last year, the vanity light mirrors quit working last year, my remote door lock and up lock work when ever they want to, and just recently a motor mount has broken causing my vehicle to shake. Can you please assist in getting these issues taken care of please. I love my vehicle and I really want to keep my vehicle. Thank you very much.

I own a 2008 Yukon Denali with 56K mile. I also had a broken motor mount that I had to replace last week. When I spoke with my mechanic he said this is VERY common and is constantly replacing them. Why would GM puts below quality parts on these vehicles, especially a motor mount, and why hasn't there been a recall? The other issues I have had is to replace the passenger door handle:which is now loose again, the lock on the rear passenger door works only when it wants to, and the rear camera just went out and I won't even mention what that cost to replace! The mount, door locks and handle all seen to be common issues...as you can see by the mileage I only drive locally and I certainly don't hot rod it...I usually have kids in the car.

Okay, so add my name to the list... I am the second owner of a 2012 Yukon Denali AWD. It has 93K miles and I just determined that the drivers side motor mount is gone. I noticed the 'clunk' last weekend; gave it the old foot on the brake test and the motor definitely moves towards the passenger side. I was considering just trading out of the truck and getting something without problems, but if the fix is a known issue and GM can work with me on the replacement, I would love to keep the truck.

On top of that, the garage-kept black beauty has a cracked dash. It had one small crack when we bought it, but now there are three distinct cracks, all starting from the one near the left side of the airbag.

The local GM dealer is Dale Earnhart Buick, GMC, Cadillac and I would be happy to take it there, but they origianlly told me that it it was roughly a $1,000 repair to do the motor mount and that is ridiculous!!! The parts are less than $200, so $800+ for labor???

Jennifer T., as the forum moderator and GM representative, is there anything you can do to provide me assistance with these issues?

Cordially,

Odd. My 08 Tahoe with 126K is on the factory mounts with no issues. My 10 Denali with the 6.2 got a new passenger side mount last week and the dealer had to replace the bolts in the driver side mount (already replaced once)...one bolt was loose and one was missing completely.

GM says 4 hours of labor and the part is $160. My dealer cuts me a bit of a break but it was still a $500 bill. I just hope they don't wear out again.

Hello all, I found this forum after searching the net for pricing on motor mounts for my 2008 Yukon. My extended warranty was about up, so I took my Yukon to get looked at for an occasional clunking noise from underneath. I thought it would be ball joints, but it ended up being the driver's side motor mount. I'm glad I found this forum for I also had the "cracked dash" issue as well. I just had both of these issues corrected at Munday Chevrolet in Houston, Tx. Basically, the charge for the motor mount would have been $457.00, but the extended warranty insurance paid for all but a $100.00 deductible, which I paid. I was surprised that they worked with me on the dash due to the fact that my Yukon has 79,000 miles, and I am also not the original owner. It costs me $456.00 to get a new dash. Yes, I do think that GM should have done the dash at no charge, but due to the age of the vehicle...I felt I had no bargaining power. My Yukon is in mint shape (Garage kept) and is not my daily driver, so I felt the charge for the dash was worth it. Good luck to all of you....

Glad to hear you got taken care of, Bruce.

I just did my driver's side motor mount which eliminated the nasty clunk my Denali has had since before I bought it. Ended up paying the money for AC Delco because all the aftermarket ones had such terrible reviews.

So far, so good!

Just got the bad news my mounts need to be replaced. After doing some research this seems all to common. I did brakes and alternator yesterday, very frustrated that I need mounts at 75k miles. gm if you are still out there would like some feedback. Has a new mount been introduced to improve the life of mounts moving forward?

Hi there GM Customer Care, I also have these weak broken motor mounts that I would like help with, my truck is at the Lakeside Chevy dealership in Rockwall Texas now having some other work done and they called today to let me know why my engine was bouncing up and down so much they said I have broken motor mounts. I myself would like to know why are these motor mounts are so weak and such a problem. Chevy dealership wants $600 to fix these motor mounts each and it's just crazy so I wanted to see if there's anything customer care can do for me since my truck is already at the dealership. I'm a big-time Chevy fan and I love my truck hence my email address of c-tahoe@hotmail. I am just tired of my passengers asking why my truck jumps when I press the gas, come to find out it was the motor mounts. Thank you so much I would appreciate your quick response.

Just had my drivers side mount replaced at the dealer. $500 bucks, we'll worth the bloody knuckles for that side as I didn't have time to sit in the driveway for half a day. The other side is fine but it's all mine when it goes.
I currently have 138k miles. Ridiculous that these should be going bad though. Poor engineering.

Took my 2008 yukon Hybrid in for oil pump problems, and my car jerking when I take off from a complete stop. I was told that my motor mount is cracked. My extended warranty is going to cover the motor mount which is great. However GMC has a "bulletin" out for the oil pump and if you change the oil pump there is a whole list of other parts you have to change. My extended warranty will only pay for some parts, so I have to pay $1300.00 dollors out of pocket when my warranty is already going to pay around $2000.00 for the other parts and labor. I'm also not to sure the motor mount being broken is what is causing the jerking problem, I think it might have something to do with the hybrid but not sure yet.

I agree. At least never let anything mechanical know that you're in a hurry. Or for that matter, that you're willing to spend money on it.
So I just joined this forum after searching the net for this issue. Took my 2007 Tahoe to the dealer yesterday for a broken exhaust manifold bolt. They called me up and said the left engine mount is broken too. I had it replaced before at 90k miles back in 2013. I have 121k on it now and the same mount is gone again. Yes, I do tow with the vehicle. about 6 times a year to go to the lake with the boat. But really? I thought the mount being broken was a fluke. I'm now finding out it isn't. Just like the exhaust bolts. Ugh! I don't want to know what's next.
