I just fired her up after doing driver side mount only.
Shifting to Drive (and reverse) I get much more movement than I want. ???
I'm at a loss. Other than doing the passenger side (have it sitting there) and the tranny mount (need to order) I don't get it. I thought the movement would be taken out of the shift to drive for sure.
It does idle a little better and moves less when revving.
I torqued the fasteners well (I thought).
"GM Genuine" off Amazon. Perhaps that's suspect? It didn't look counterfeit.
I changed it because I saw the orange goo.

Help appreciated.
Happy Thanksgiving!

does it look like this?

I'm going to say this is what a bad one looks like..

looks like it's moving up my list some

if not, it's probably fine. they are fluid flilled to allow movement

I was hoping you'd reply, you were the one who originally turned me on the motor mount path! When I was a Tahoe noob.

No, it's about 33% as much as that. Reverse shift is worse. Kind of making sense?

I've never checked a good fluid mount and I put the solid hummer in mine. so I'm not sure exactly what new mounts look like. but that video is my broken one, in gear and then give it a little gas against the brake. I didn't see what it did while dropping into gear.

I can't only guess that since the stock oem ones only last a short time, it wouldn't surprise me if they move around some trying to get the idle to be completely smooth.

refresh my memory, what was the original issue?

Rough idle lol... Bounce up to 600, shimmy a little, drop back down.

I just drove it a little and it seems smoother.
I might have a pre video, but it was nowhere near that bad.

That info about yours makes me feel better, it doesn't move much with throttle. I'm hoping the passenger and tranny mount help even more.

Have you cleaned/changed plugs, the MAF sensor, air filter and throttle body. Add in some quality fuel system cleaner (Lucas) and topped it off with a fresh tank of fuel (premium if running a 6.2l).
Then check your idle after all those are taken care of. You might be surprised. That’s not to say your mount didn’t help or the other two are not needed. Having them replaced will help for sure.

I have a Denali with the 6.2, it has some drop even with brand new mounts. Not like the drop from a broken mount, but there is a little flex in there. My fluid filled mounts lasted almost 100k, others don’t even get half that much out of them. All depends on your driving habits/conditions and probably the weather/temp changes the rubber is exposed to.

@alpha_omega you talkin' to me? ;) thanks for the reply.

I have not done the plugs/wires. I think the Carfax said they were done 20K ago. Pretty sure the are oem. MAF sensor was cleaned (with correct cleaner) when I had a throttle body issue last year.

The idle has definitely smoothed out a bit with only driver side. I will eventually get to passenger's and tranny Mount. Seems worst when hot idling at a light.

I noticed a rough jump when shifting a cold engine into D, but even more when shifting into R. Makes a little sense. Not anywhere near "broken motor mount" videos.

I would describe it as "a little flex" as well or maybe "some flex"

5.3L btw
