Brembo brakes installation cost

I just received my Brembo brake kits for my 2018 Yukon XL Denali (GM part # 84263235). I bought those from ShopChevyParts.com and saved $700 from the MSRP. I will have them installed by my local GMC dealer in order for the brakes to be covered under the GM warranty.

I was quoted $250 a few weeks ago which seems high to me. I am assuming here 2 hours of labor at around $125/hour. Does that seem reasonable to you?

You might want to check with an Independent Garage to see if the Dealer is in the ball park. Not sure what all is involved with installing Brembos. The going rate here is $145/hour. If it was me I would have the Dealer do the install for peace of mind. You are using parts ordered from a GM parts company and the GM parts are being installed by a GM Dealer which ensures full GM warranty on parts and installation if anything happens.

Easily a 2 hour job...$250 at the dealer is reasonable, and with it to include a warranty, why try to save $50 or a $100 when in the long run it will be the dealers problem, no sense in fussing with someone else.
Take it as a get what you pay for!

The only reason I'm replacing the front brakes is for safety as I'm pulling a 7600 lbs travel trailer across "hilly" California. I read somewhere that the front brakes handle %70 of total braking which is why I decided not to replace the rear brakes (that and the cost involved)

For reference my local tire discounters will install customer supplied rotors and pads for $120/per axle for our SUV’s. So the additional labor of “custom calipers” new caliper mounting brackets and hardware plus dealership labor premium with “warranty” to me puts $250 in line.

Calipers, brackets, rotors, pads plus bleeding the front brakes. $250 is cheap.

I loved my Brembro front setup on my 18 Tahoe. Rated at 33% better braking and I believe it. I painted my rears to match. Looked great. Too bad the rest of the truck was a lemon.

I ordered mine with the Brembro brakes and Borla exhaust. When I drove a stock Tahoe I almost rear ended a car in front of me, it felt like it didn’t have brakes compared my mine.

There should be a rear kit from Brembo, my 2001 Yukon was the Testbed vehicle for Brembo when they developed the 6 piston front kit, and they did a 4 piston rear kit. I let them use my truck a few times and ultimately ended up with a full kit front and rear for free which wasn't a bad deal! They should still have a 4 piston kit for the rear, probably will cost as much as the front kit, but the Brembo kits will have cross drilled rotors, so if you are looking to do a rear kit, may as well just get the aftermarket front and rear Brembo kits.
