I have 2004 1500 4x4 suburban with 17'' wheels found brake upgrades from bolt on 2008 brakes for the front brakes. And now there are 2020 upgrades with 4 piston calipers. My question is are the 4 pistoin worth it as far as performance goes? Plus will the mods fit with my wheels?
I do overload weight capacity now and then and with stock brakes cant stop. Please give my an suggestions.

The 2010 upgrade is better, pads are slightly bigger, better shape against the rotor for better wipe. Say '2010 Suburban front brake kit' next time.

Unfortunately you did not specify WHICH 17" wheels you have, which is crucially important.
So far as I know, only 2 types of 17" wheels work with 13.5" rotor & 4 piston calipers from a GMTK2xx vehicle.
They are both 17" STEEL wheels, one of them is from a 2025 Colorado/Canyon.
Most of the rest of the 17" wheels will not work with GMTK2xx front brakes without spacers. Same goes for many 18" wheels unless they are AFTER 2019.

Whether or not the 4piston 13.5" rotor GMTK2xx front brake upgrade is worth it TO YOU depends on where you buy the parts from.
Shop around, don't overpay.

On the 2010 suburban front brake kit which brand or parts # would you recommend? The 17'' wheels came from GMC Sierra 1500 i believe 2014

2010 Suburban front brake caliper BRACKETS
2010 Suburban front brake CALIPERS
2010 Suburban front brake ROTORS
2010 Suburban front brake PADS
2004 Suburban front brake hoses

Tend to prefer Bendix Fleet Metlok, Wagner HD ... carbon metallic pads generally, especially if they are police grade -
although they WILL eat rotors more quickly and dust like hell, they improve panic stopping power.

Any 17" wheel that fits on a GMT400 GMT800 or GMT900 will house the entire 2010 Suburban front brake kit with no issues.
The only 17" wheels that will house the 2015 / GMTK2 front brake kit are STEEL, and I believe come from the 2025 Colorado / Canyon.

Sure, go ahead and say '2010 Tahoe PPV' instead of Suburban, the calipers will cost a bit more for the high temp seals and o-rings & stuff.
If you are thinking of upgrading to the 2021 GMTT1UC-PPV (Tahoe) front brake kit, you'll absolutely need 20" wheels.
Also what about the rear brakes?
Worry about the front brakes first. If you really need rear brake kit upgrades, you need a rear axle upgrade too.
