My 05 GMC Yukon Denali XL brakes keep locking up randomly. I have a DTC code C0131 and C0279. I don’t have any current lights on,these were stored code. I have been having brake problems for about 4-5 years now. It first started with the rear brakes locking up. Thought it was the calipers seizing. So replace them and still doing it. Mind you I am working with a GM certified technician at the time. Thought it might be the soft lines deteriorating and collapsing, so replaced all of them. They keep locking up randomly still. Thought it might be the master brake cylinder as well, so replaced it. Last spring took a road trip and on our way home the front right wheel locks up. Pull over shut the vehicle off and it unlocked. Continued on our trip. Leave the next day to finish our trip home and it happens again. Turn the vehicle off and it resets again. I thought that the abs could be malfunctioning, so I pulled the abs fuse to see if it was still locking up and it continued. I assume that all the brakes are roasted, so I replace all of the soft lines, and calipers again. I read a tread on here to check the precharge pump motor, so I checked that and the ohms were .5. Sorry so long, I just want to give as much information as possible to let everyone know what I’ve been through and how frustrating this has been. Thank you in advanced for any information that could help.

Wow! That’s scary as heck. Going 80 and front brake locking up would cause me to change underwear. I don’t know if this model can be driven while watching data but if so the tech needs to do that. My thought was ABS pump too or you have a grounding issue that’s causing this. @Doubeleive and others have more experience than me with ABS and using bidirectional scanners.

both of those codes are abs, given the known abs module problems on the gmt800's I would be looking for a replacement module.
not a new one, I don't think they exist anymore and if they do there going to super expensive. Go used/refurbished.
has to be the exact same model module plug-n-play no programming required.
It is under the frame/body under the drivers seat area, 4 torx bit bolts, BE AWARE those bolts can get stripped easily, if that happens it will have to be cut out.
the vehicle cannot be driven with the module out.

I had a friend with a scanner come by and scan it. Im waiting to see what he found out. I’ve already removed the model to clean it with electrical cleaner so I should we able to switch it out if that ends up being the problem. I also removed the hound wires and hit them with a wire brush to make sure I have a good ground. I will keep you posted on what I find out.

unless the abs light was on it is unlikely to show any codes, it is self correcting system. so each key cycle it performs a self check, say you start it up no light, but drive down the street hit a bump in the road and a internal fault happens and it throws a light/code.
that's just one scenario, but why are you waiting to see what he found out? that should be instantaneous information
