Brake pad cost….

Putting different pads OR bigger brakes on a new Tahoe isn't going to magically decrease your stopping distance by 10 or 20%.

Whereas better pads AND bigger rotors AND better tires MIGHT improve stopping distance by UP TO 10%, with a lil luck and the right conditions.
Still can't hurt to upgrade pads & rotors & tires.

Someone already said it - Rock auto, and in my experience, semi-metallic pads stop quicker, and they make more dust -- but stopping quicker is the game IMHO

Look up the formula for stopping distance. The variables are velocity and coefficient of friction between the tires and the road. This is from a Jaguar engineer... "The problem is that pads are probably the least important part of the braking process. When the brakes work well enough to lock the wheels, the maximum performance has been reached, regardless of the pad material." But I do agree Rock Auto is good, but I have found even better prices for OEM pads on Amazon.

I have 10,000 miles on my Yukon and the pads still show 91-92% brake life.

I’m not really gonna care what they cost when the time comes. They’ll be replaced with OEM as well.
