Macho,

I wanted your opinion on this. I too have a Black Tahoe and I'd like to black out my grill as well. I wanted to know if you or any one in this forum has purchased a black grill form ebay. Ex. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2007-2012-C...l:Tahoe|Year:2009&hash=item19e83bf5c4&vxp=mtr

I was thinking about buying this but wasn't sure how difficult it would be to install.

Any insight would be helpful.

Thanks,

Phil

I have not. However that grille is the same black as the stock LT grille. The part that you want to black out is the chrome bezel AROND the mesh-portion of the grill. It make sense once you take it apart and see how it goes together. Look in my photo collage, bottom right and notice the chrome pieces that I placed on top of the box and you'll notice it's a different piece than what they are showing in the eBay listing.

Plasti dip

Need to redo the bottom again though. Used cheap tape I had laying around the house and the lines aren't nice and clean

These pics look great. When I first got my ltz the first thing I did was black out my front and rear bow ties but now I am thinking of doing all the emblems too with dip. I'm not ready to debadge yet but I really like the blackout looks

How's that holding up? I have the same color and can't decide to go blacked out or get the LTZ grill. I like the look of the bottom for sure but not many pics out there of our color trucks

Get the LTZ grill? I thought you had an LTZ? So it would already have one? Plus if you get those black wheels then the chrome LTZ grill would look off since black and chrome and your car color wouldn't really mesh well.

Was looking online and found a truck almost identical to mine.

Looks good man. Since you already dipped the entire bottom, how about dipping the entire upper grill? I'm referring to the horizontal piece where the front bow tie is attached as well as the vertical pieces on the ends.... I know another member did it to his Hoe but I don't recall his name.

I really like it the way he's got it. IMO it might look kinda cheap/half-assed to dip just that horiztonal piece since its all just part of the bumper, instead of doing something more permanent or professional looking like a replacement... I'd have to see a pic tho

I do like the blacked out piece around the tow hooks tho!

Blacking out the bow tie does so much for the grill! I used vinyl, it's been like that for years and still looks the same.
