ok... so im on my way home from school in MS headed to New Orleans cus im going to a big car show this weekend called SICNIK, i stop to get gas and when i went to start back up my truck, everything went crazy, like i had no power steering, the temp. was high, the voltage was low, and no AC, so im like WTF, so i turn it off then back on again to try to reset it nothing.

I pop open my hood and the belt came off. There was nothing left to the idler pulley except a destroyed bearing all bent up with the bearing balls popping out.
so i had to get it towed home, and i did in about 10min max. I ran the engine, all works and all is well.

I go to test drive it and i keep hearing a pop and its jerking my truck every time i hear a pop as well a grind, so again im like WTF now. Turns out some how the front hub assembly back cap came off and was exposing the bearings and the dried out and was making the crunching, popping and grinding noise, so after being up till 3 in the morning plus having to wait till the part store opened the next morning then finally taking installing the new one then finally getting to leave to head to a big car show called SICNIK in Gonzales, LA all this crap in one evenning

Damn that sucks, how the hell does the hub lose the cap just like that?
The pulley was slightly expected considering the problems you were having though.
Well atleast you made it to Sicnik...

both my hubs will be changed within the next few weeks. i have read that the hubs on these trucks tend to go bad just like the steering boxes and shafts.

towing was free (AAA) pulley was $16, and hub assembly was $140 i did all the work myself so $156 total

glad to hear you handled it and still made it to the show.

I plan on doing both of mine in the next few weeks also, just because I have about 93k on mine and I don't want to wait for until I have to. With my luck if I don't do it now mine would fall apart in the middle of winter and I don't have a heated garage.

I just got mine done but not by choice, luckily I beat the cold weather. Doing that job in the middle of winter would be painful.
