On my old 2022 Yukon SLT when the trailer was connected it automatically went into tow/haul mode and would never go in to 10th gear. Does the 2025 Yukon Elevation do the same thing? So much conflicting info on the internet especially with Google AI which states neither year does which is wrong. There is no tow/haul button on the Elevation like my friends 2025 Sierra which is located in the 4wd drive switch. I am asking because I have not towed yet (still breaking in).
Thanks

I have a 2021 Yukon but added an aftermarket tow control and tow mode has to be set manually. I assume you have the factory 'tow package'? And in mine, you can't see the gear on the DIC unless you manually activate "L" +/- mode instead of "D". 2022 has full software screen as well I believe?

Don't mean to sound like I'm trolling, just interesting/wondering where you're seeing that it won't go into 10th gear as I can only see this when "L" is manually activated - maybe I'm missing something on my own display.

As I said in my original post I have not towed yet and trying to find out if it does it automatically BEFORE I leave soon on a long trip. Don't want to be messing with things in the dark early in the morning of departure.
You are correct on the 2022 I would shift manually and with trailer connected it would drop one gear into 8th which indicates it was only in 9th when towing. Driving without trailer it would drop to 9th when manually downshifting same as my 2025 does.

Just answered my own question, went out and connected trailer and a message popped up reminding me to shift into tow/haul mode! Which is pretty easy using the round "mode" knob and dialing it to the tow/haul setting. So no the 2025 does not go into tow/haul automatically. Bad thing is you need to do this at every engine shut down.

Yes - I was asking about you're 2022. Appreciate the info. I've been curious because I get the idea that earlier than 2021 - the gear was shown on the DIC all the time and from 2021 onward, the active gear is no longer displayed as far as I can tell. Wasn't sure if somehow you were seeing the gear while in "D". Personally, I've love to see the active gear - especially when towing.

Yes, the only way to see the active gear in the 2022+ is when you are in manual mode and I absolutely hate that you can't add more than one gauge to the DIC in the 2025 in my 2022 I could add pretty much anything I wanted like the trans temp, the coolant temp and others which is a big deal when pulling steep grades while towing in hot weather! Come on GM get with it or hire people that do actually drive these vehicles in a variety of conditions!

page 224 in my 2023 Yukon Denali… if you had it in tow/haul mode and shut off vehicle.. it will remain in that mode for 4 hours on a restart

That is great, thanks for posting that, here is what my manual says on page 217....Glad to see exhaust braking is also activated!
If the vehicle is turned off while in Tow/Haul
mode and then restarted within four hours
or less, it will remain active. Otherwise, the
vehicle will start in Normal mode.
If the vehicle has a diesel engine, exhaust
braking is automatically activated when
Tow/Haul mode is selected.

.. probably a dumb question but how does your Yukon determine if a trailer is “connected” ?

I dunno what it senses but the computer knows when a trailer is connected if you are using the umbilical cord to the trailer.

I’ve answered my own question and found this online…
  • When a trailer is connected to the 7-pin connector, the Yukon's electrical system recognizes the presence of the trailer's lights.
