aftermarket amp on factory sub

has anyone ever considered installing an aftermarket amplifier on the factory bose subwoofer? I have replaced the headunit in my 2015 yukon xl, has factory bose. Of course with the aftermarket headunit, the factory subwoofer is no longer functional. I do have quite a large sound system in the vehicle....

Currently installed is a 400 amp mechman high output alternator, a limitless retro 56 lithium battery, probably 200 feet of 0 gauge ofc wire, The front door pods hold 2 8 inch midbass and 2 3.5 inch mid/tweters per front door, and the subwoofer sound stage is handled by 6 12 inch subwoofers. Currently on around 4-4500 watts rms.
There are 2 5000 watt rms amps awaiting install to replace the single 3300 currently installed.

What i'm looking to do, is put a small amplifier on the factory subwoofer, Not really to add more bass because, to be fair... There is plenty of subwoofer power available. But with lower volume listening levels, It would be nice to have the factory subwoofer playing to add some better midbass/bass.

I understand the desire, but adding Bose to all the gear you've installed sure seems like a step backwards. Anyway, it's an interesting idea, regardless of brands of gear.

I've often wished for a 'loudness' button, like home stereo gear used to have. I just did a search, and it turns out some, at least, do.

If you're unfamiliar, the boost provided by 'loudness' gradually decreases as the playback volume is increased. Sounds like the perfect solution, if the unit's slope matches your ears' desires. Maybe EQ could help fine tune it.

its really more about adding a little more MIDBASS upfront. and being that there is already a bose subwoofer installed. and not being used. and I have plenty of amplifier connections... and power on tap, I thought .. hmmm what if I take one of my micro or smaller amps, and use it. Allow it to play farther up into the bass bandwidth to allow a more " full " sound.

the honeycomb amp rack and dual 5k's have not yet been installed. but will be soon. I have a few more subwoofer box projects to build in place for clients before I can start back working on my personal setup.

with that setup you will probably never even hear that factory sub, you can barely hear it with no additional add-on's as it is.
if you want better sound get a good quality DSP processor like a Audison, then you can do a ton of crap with a laptop, that would probably be the next best investment

with that setup you will probably never even hear that factory sub, you can barely hear it with no additional add-on's as it is.
if you want better sound get a good quality DSP processor like a Audison, then you can do a ton of crap with a laptop, that would probably be the next best investment

the factory sub, does half way decent for carring a decent midbass response. giving me some solid curve gap in the 60-125hz range. I do have a decent dsp for my doors. but even tho the "midbass's" in the doors can play down into the 75 hz range. they do not really allow for high volume levels at that frequency. The subs currently are underpowered. but thats about to change. However at normal listening volumes, the subs are there to support 50hz and below. and at very low levels. Giving me a problem area with a gap of attention from 50-120. I think if the factory bose amp, is properly powered, and properly tuned... that I should be able to bridge that gap.
