6L80 Dipstick loose?

Just did a fluid flush via @swathdiver's writeup. Super easy and fast! Almost didn't spill until filling the last waste jug.

Noticed my dipstick does not stay put. It has the cam-latch, and the rubber looks OK.
But there is no friction betweeen the latch and tube. The dipstick tension against the bends of the tube, pushes the dipstick up about 1/2"..

try a new dipstick there fairly inexpensive

Say wha..? Maybe the 4L60 parts are more scarce than the 6L80 parts these days. I only found a few that were supposedly in stock and they were pushing $50 or more, before shipping (part #15791230). I bought a Dorman for $27 but then fixed mine for free with a washer. The Dormans have a few flaws.

ya i see those are a bit more pricey in that case I would just grab one out of a junkyard

I think it's an age thing and the rubber compresses from staying in that position for so long. So a junkyard piece would likely be the same unless it was replaced before the car was junked. As much as I enjoy browsing the junkyard, the washer fix cost me nothing but a few minutes of my time.
