Yup I saved a screenshot just in case. The warranty is applied to the VIN of the truck and covers the engine regardless if it was replaced or not.

Really sorry to read this, Man.

2007 and 2008 were the last years that the NON-AFM 6.2L motors were made. Glad that I have a 2007 6.2L truck.
I had a 2011 Silverado with the 6.2. I thought it was pre AFM. I traded it in 2022, so no way to check

I thought the new GM plant building newly designed 6.2 liter engines would start production in 2026.

How do you know your replacement engine isn’t the same as the old one, with the same problems?

07 / 08 / 09 6.2L we’re AFM free. If only GM had put their $ into the trans in 07-14 vs the motor/AFM.

A 10SP trans for milage, performance, emissions and engine longevity. Who knows, maybe they could of developed the 08-13 Hybrid into something they missed.

We're led to believe, based on the '21-'24 date range of the recall, that GM thinks the engine [parts] problems aren't an issue before and after that range.

Have a 2022 Suburban RST with the 6.2 L87 engine with 45k miles on it. Engine recall passed and dealer switched to 0w40. I’ve been complaining of oil consumption so they had me drive 2k miles and come back I lost 1 qt which they said was within spec. They changed oil again and told me to come back in 1k miles. I came back after 1k miles and was told only 4.5 quarts drained so I lost 3.5. Today I get a call and they told me GM approved a full engine replacement under warranty. Only problem is the 6.2 engine is very limited so no timetable. They did give me a 2026 traverse as a loaner to keep until my suburban is fixed. Just wanted to share.
got my Tahoe premier in 22 and less than six months I had a new engine put in. Has run great since then.!

LMGTFY...
The new V8 engines from the Tonawanda, NY plant are expected to be in 2027 model year GMC Yukons, not the current 2025 models. The 2025 GMC Yukons, which started arriving at dealerships in late 2024 and early 2025, use the existing generation of V8 engines.
Here is a breakdown of the production and release schedule:
Current (2025) Model: The 2025 Yukon uses the fifth-generation 5.3L and 6.2L V8 engines (L84 and L87), which are already in production and currently available at dealerships.
Next-Generation V8 (Sixth-Generation): General Motors is investing $888 million in its Tonawanda Propulsion plant to prepare for production of the next-generation V8 engine.
Production Start: Production of this new sixth-generation V8 engine is scheduled to begin in 2027.
Vehicle Availability: The new engines will power future full-size trucks and SUVs, meaning the Yukons featuring the Tonawanda-built new V8s will be the 2027 model year vehicles, available at dealerships sometime in late 2026 or early 2027.
In summary, the specific "new" V8 engines are not yet available. The 2025 models are a mid-cycle refresh that feature updated versions of the existing V8s, not a completely new engine generation from the re-tooled Tonawanda plant.
GM to invest $888 million in Tonawanda Propulsion plant
May 26, 2025 — The investment includes new machinery, equipment, and tools, as well as facility renovations. “This investment marks an exciting new chapter for our...

6.2 L did not get AFM in the half ton pu till 2014. I owned a 2013 Denali 2 wheel drive i bought new and no AFM.
Yes, this too. GM confused the ship out of customers by introducing Gen IV pick ups in 2013 and full size SUV after 2014.

They took it up a notch and offered Denali trim in full size SUV & P/U. All Denali got AFM in (1/2 ton) SUV after 09 but .. all 6.2L in pick up trucks DID Not have AFM til their Gen IV model intro in 2014.

Thank you, I was unaware of this.
