Not bad really. Those are town numbers are what get in my F-150 3.5 eco boost while the Yukon XL diesel is 19’ish.

I drive a little faster on the highwayk but 18mpg is rare in the F150. And
24-25 mpg all day long in the Diesel.
I'm completely satisfied with the 6.2 and its fuel economy...its just the reliability that is not good.

I get similar numbers with my 2024 6.2l
13-15 around town and hitting the throttle occasionally.
I use 93 mostly Exxon/Mobil
Also have the Carbyte module for full time V8.
18-20 doing 70mph on the highway and 22-24 doing 55-60 mph on highway.

That 55-60 mph is the sweet spot and best fuel efficiency and I have seen 25 mpg on some days.

I’m seeing some claims that a big contributing factor to why replacement engines are failing is because the cooler lines are not being properly flushed or replaced and is therefore reintroducing contamination back into the new engine. I mean, statistically how is it possible your replacement engine would fail but then on top of that the next replacement engine would also fail. Assuming the same shop did the installs, maybe there’s more to it?

I believe if repaired to TSB in link all lines radiator and associated parts are replaced.

If I were him, I'd keep it around since all major engine components are new including the radiator. And, it should come with a decent warranty.

@WalleyeMikeIII - I'd inquire what the replacement components come with for a warranty. I think if GM pays the bill, you get 2 yr/24k (engines may be different?). If it's customer pay, then its the 3 yr/100k from what I've been told in the past. This situation could be entirely different due to GM getting slapped on the pee-pee.
GM isnt giving me anything voluntarily after a new engine at 4k miles

If your vehicle is in the recall population, you automatically have special coverage N252494003

Check your MyGMC or My Chevrolet App under Service --> Recalls and Warranties, should be active if your vehicle was in the recall population.
If you were not..you will have to wait for the investigations to continue/conclude to determine whether GM will ultimately expand the recall population or not.
Else, you will continue to be in the 5yr/60K mile powertrain warranty.

My rig is at dealer today for some new tires (Defender LTX M/S2) and while there, the 3rd oil change after engine replacement

New Engine + 500 Miles -- 1st oil change
1st Oil Change + 1000 miles -- 2nd oil change
2nd Oil Change + 1800 miles -- today's oil change
Hopefully the swarf is out by now.

Yes, it is getting 0W20...

I intend to go back to "normal" oil change intervals after this one..so subsequent ones will be 4.5-5.5k miles.
