I would like to buy a size specific oil filter wrench. I have a band wrench but i usually drop it into the drain oil pan at least once per use.
Which oil filter brand has a consistent wrench size?

I found that it depends on the brand of filter with regards to those cup ones.

Ok, So I just went into the garage and found the one I bought a couple years ago. It's labeled as a 905 and says 73P-15 on the inside as well. That means it is 73mm and 15 flutes.

It does not fit the UPF48R filter but does fit the ACDelco PF48 and PF63. Seems a little loose but I've not used this kind before. Previously used the strap types. Now I use a 1 inch socket as the K&Ns have a nut on the bottom and they are a great filter albeit quite expensive.

Sounds right, but surprised it doesn't fit the UPF48R but fits the others.

I've seen these cup type in a kit with 4-5 different sizes, but they're pretty pricey.

I've used this self adjusting one from Harbor Freight with success, but I notice it's now on clearance

+1 on the Harbor Freight one linked above. Works on my vehicles, and even my tractor.

Never seen that before, great idea kinda makes the others obsolete.

Yes,, And I just bought a aluminum casted 73mmx15 slot cup,, what oil filter co. fits that cup ?
Read post #3 above written by @swathdiver

He lists a couple filters that fit that. I have no idea because I don't use that style wrench. I either use a rubber strap wrench or the adjustable/cam swivel type I posted above.

That fits fine in my Mobile 1 filter. Also matches the Briggs filter on my Toro tractor so double win for me.

I have this exact wrench and have been using it for years. One of the best tools I own.
