GM isn't good with OTA updates. Mine hasn't gotten a single one since I bought it in August. Even with OTA updates, they always have bigger updates that can only be done with the tool and in combination with USB updates. I believe the feature update (recordings) came via the USB update so make sure to mention they do that as well. Either way, if they know what they're doing, it would be done since it's part of the updating process.
I will mention its a "Feature Update"

Just an update for my fellow 2025 owners. thanks to AMM107 I got the Dealership Service guys to update my head unit. The trick is to say your having issues with one of the items that has been fixed in the new updated software so I said my radio isn't always connecting through Bluetooth and sometimes drops the connection. That triggers the update to the head unit as suggested by AMM107 and its covered under the warranty.

Then I advised them about adding the Sound Vision Recorder (SVR) feature update and they did it under warranty.

Its now there and I just have to go purchase a compatible USB drive and its a done deal.

Its kind of frustrating that GM doesnt push something out telling owners to come in and get this done, if it wasn't for this forum and AMM107 I would never had known to add this head unit update and SVR update.

I just noticed that software update also updated our system Android Auto version from V12 to V14.....the new SVR recording feature is pretty cool.

So loving this new feature but after reviewing the video clips I'm wondering does anyone know what exactly is the threshold for when it records video?....or is it simply 100% recording when the truck is on?

I'm asking because I have clips while at gas station filling up and truck is off, I also have random clips while driving normally, no impacts, or aggressive driving.

One question to those with their SVR feature running....does the USB have to be inserted into the USB port in the center console next to the wireless charger or can it be in another one?....easy to bump it sticking up thats why I'm asking.

Yes, the one next to the USB is the one that is used. The others sre only for charging.

Which port are you using for the recording, USB-A or USB-C?

In my 2026, I am using the USB-A to save the video footage

Has anyone with a 2025 Yukon been able to get this running? I'm guessing the Tahoe infotainment update is different for the Yukon.

Interesting. So either one of the front ports (USB-A or USB-C) can be used for the video recorder.
Well... I "think" so. I plugged in the us-c drive and I stopped getting the messages on the DIC . But I am now wondering how the he11 to download it to view... Maybe it is the -A-?

The only way to "download" it is to eject the thumb drive (there will be a button on the screen) and then plug it into your computer. You should be able to watch your footage directly on the infotainment, that will atleast let you know its recording

You can watch directly on the infotainment screen when you select the SVR icon in the settings menu. I bought a 6" USB extender cable that sticks out less and USB drive lays down nicely so less chance of being struck

I purchased a short drive so it's not in the way or easily damaged. Works great and doesn't interfere with daily use.
