It’s on the 25 Escalade build that I currently have ordered. Apparently it will be a future update. Not sure if that will be the same for chevy/gmc. The code is UCV.

As I wait for my 2025 Tahoe High Country to arrive I just found this article on GM Authority.

Seems like a promised feature on the 2025 model year has either vanished or been delayed.

Anyone have any more information as to what happened?

This was on of the options I really wanted, and thought was getting. I don't want to install a dash cam and I ws told by my dealer that this option to record events in the front facing camera would be available in my 2025 RST. It's even in the manual. But I have found nothing and my dealer has been sidestepping giving me a concrete answer. Hopefully in a soon software upgrade this feather will be added. Appreciate you posting if you have anything further.

Did your dealer give you a print-out of the vehicle you ordered, with an order number and a listing of features and options? Did you sign a purchase contract which specified a specific vehicle an options?

Its not listed in the Window Sticker Summary but if I could find a way to pull the order sheet it might be there. The GM marketing material I referenced above explains its a feature coming to all the 25 GM SUV's. I did see at my dealership the interior camera is there in the overhead console on a few of their 2025 Escalades in stock. I'm also aware its coming with future software update but we wont have the interior camera to reference remotely. I'm just looking for forward and rear facing coverage that would replace an externally mounted dash camera. Apparently the SD card slot is located in the rear 1/4 panel access for the fuse panel. Anyone with a 25 Escalade thats got the interior camera might be able to update us on their functionality.

I was really looking forward to this feature being in the new 2025’s but I don’t see how it’s possible for us who are already owners without retrofitting the interior camera and a software upgrade for it to work. Gen5diy is a guy who actually might have the knowledge to get it done without the dealership, he had a few upgrades for the Camaro and Corvette communities in the past.

My 25 Escalade had it on the window sticker and the interior camera is there but we're still waiting on the software update to activate it.

So I went into my 2025 Tahoe/Suburban Owners Manual and scrolled down to the Surround Vision Camera page. It actually says I am supposed to put a USB 2.0 Drive into the center console and that is my Recorder for my Surround Vision System.

I tried it it and nothing recorded and nothing changed on the DIC or main screen GUI.

From the Owners Manual:

Surround Vision Recorder If equipped, this system records video from the surround vision cameras to a USB flash drive. Audio is not recorded. Continuous use of the Surround Vision Recorder will degrade the USB flash drive and reduce its longevity. A replacement flash drive will eventually be needed. Insert a USB flash drive into the USB port in the center console. Eject the USB flash drive using the button in the settings menu before removing the USB flash drive from the vehicle. To access settings, select Surround Vision Recorder on the infotainment home screen. Removing it without using the eject button could corrupt the video file and/or the USB flash drive. Activate: After inserting a USB flash drive, tap Surround Vision Recorder on the infotainment home screen and follow the prompts. Once completed, recording will start automatically when the app is closed. Recording continues until it is turned off in the settings screen, the app is reopened, or the vehicle is turned off. Deactivate: Tap Surround Vision Recorder on the infotainment home screen. Toggle off Continuous Recording in settings. Select from the following when the vehicle is in P (Park) and the video player is open: Exit: Tap the infotainment home screen button to return to the home screen. Video Timeline: Tap to view the video timeline. The video timeline displays video thumbnails from each drive that can be played back. Drag the timeline to the desired date/time to begin playback. Rewind: Tap to return to the previous video. Play/Pause: Tap to play or pause a recorded video. Fast Forward: Tap to advance to the next video. Camera Views: Tap the camera icon buttons on the vehicle image to switch between camera views. The default camera view shows the front of the vehicle. In addition: • The recorded video is stored on the USB flash drive in five-minute-long files. • All files can be viewed on the playback app or when the USB flash drive is read by a personal computer (PC). • Once the USB flash drive has recorded two hours of video, the oldest files will be overwritten. Delete Data: Remove the USB flash drive from the vehicle and insert into a PC to manually delete the file. Surround Vision Recorder may not work if: • No USB flash drive is present. Make sure you have inserted a USB flash drive meeting the specifications. If already inserted, remove it and insert again

@Sgt1411 I thought this feature wasn’t released yet and that we are waiting g for a OTA update. The instructions are very familiar to MBZ

BTW - (you can but a a usb 3.0 C drive on Amazon super cheap… they don’t have moving parts so I don’t understand “downgrade “.. I’ll try tomorrow just for fun

Owners manual does say “if equipped”. Does your window sticker say it is equipped?

I reached out to a contact at GM and your right, he brought up the same issue "if equipped"

My Window Sticker just says Surround Vision Camera System.

I guess the GM Marketing Material for 2025 Model Year was a little presumptuous as the feature may need an OTA update to actually work.

I have always had Thinkware dashcams in all my vehicles as it makes a huge difference when your involved in an incident on the road and you have to argue with insurance companies about fault.

I'm interested to see your results, maybe it is only the USB-C port not 2.0 port

I found this camera online which I'm guessing is the overhead console interior camera but I'm getting that confirmed before I purchase.

If anyone else knows please advise....

Time, extreme temperatures, and multiple write sequences can degrade (not "downgrade") USB storage.

I bought a Scandisk USB - C drive and tried it in my Tahoe, NO JOY!

I'm guessing PVR or DVR software is not loaded yet.

This morning I went on the GM website and did a 25 Escalade build it says way down in the description of features that my build was:

  • Connected Cameras capable
  • Requires future vehicle software update

Thanks for your investigation into this feature that I’m sure to add as a workaround for our ‘25 Tahoe, I’ll be following this closely.

So I guess its time to install an aftermarket DashCam.

The Thinkware U3000 seems to be the Tier 1 unit at the moment
