2022 Tahoe - Dash Cam Powered by Rearview Mirror?

Been thinking about getting a dash cam for a while but don't really want wires everywhere. Does anyone know if it can be wired into the rear view mirror on 2022 Tahoes? I've heard sometimes there's power there which can be tapped into

Yes. I'm powering my radar detector from behind the mirror shroud.

I use one of these. The wiring adaptor plugs into the oem wiring harness behind the mirror to tap the power going to the rear view mirror. You can then use the 12vdc to power a radar detector and/or a 5vdc USB for a Dash Cam. Various device adaptor options. Make sure you get the right one for you make model and year.

Thanks. Might be a dumb question but is there room to hide that in the rear view cover? Seems like it’s quite large but maybe it’s just the picture

Yes it all fits. Not difficult to tuck it all neatly under the cover.

Probably a really dumb question, but I’ve never used a dash cam before - does this record automatically every time you start the vehicle, or do you have to choose when you want it to record?

I have two of those dash cams and they start automatically when you start the car, great dash cam and you can see recording on your phone live or later if needed.

How are the reviews? Mangoal isn't on Trusted Pilot, and FitCamX is mostly 1*s over how the camera is easy to fit but it performs terribly. Including random shut offs. I see a few obvious paid promotions on youtube too.

I got really excited for that product and its sleek form factor, but I can't seem to find any legit reviews. Nothing compared to Vantrue, blackvue, etc...
