Hello,

I’m in Texas and I recently purchased a 2016 PPV used by the state troopers.

It’s in great condition overall.

Radio works, but only plays audio to the two rear door speakers. The front door and dash speakers do not work.

I will be putting in a new center console, but want to figure out the speakers first.

Pictures are attached, I already removed the metal police console, there are both in tact wires and multiple cut wires (I assume are police gear wires)

Thank you for the help in advance, I already love this Tahoe!

Welcome to the Forum from NH.

Lots of knowledgeable folks here who freely share their knowledge, experiences, and perspectives. Knowledge is power.

I hope that you will become a participating member in the Forum's discussions.

Pics of the truck, please.

Let's assume that the cluster of wrapped wires contains the front speaker wires. The speaker wires would be the fatter wires, IMO. I would select 2 fat wires, one plain color and one striped color. Get a 9 volt battery and touch the 2 wires to the battery's contacts. If they are speaker wires, you will hear a pop sound from the appropriate front speaker.

I appreciate your response, I took some more photos of the vehicle. I’m going to separate some wires out and start trying the 12 volt.

Also going to be selling the Cop Box in the back, need to find a buyer

Figured out the speakers! All of them work great.

If anyone is having the same problem- it was super simple to figure out.

I looked up the color of the speaker wires, located the harnesses below the dash. It looks like the police installation separated the (factory) harnesses connection, and installed two auxiliary ones once separated with some custom wires. I just unplugged the two and connected the originals.

Look at the picture I attached for visual. The red lines indicate how I received the PPV, and the green line is how I attached the cables that now work. I attached the wire colors I used to locate the wires in the mess as well

Next up:

-get horn working
-get high beams working
-install a center console
-sell the cop box in the trunk
-left door lock/unlock switch does not work
-I want to activate lights when you unlock/lock truck

173,000 miles! It’s a lot but it drives great for now.

The Texas State Troopers and DPS supposedly (?) Take good care of the vehicles in the department, so I’m hopeful.

I don’t know of any service records, are there ways of getting those? I picked it up from the public surplus store lot.

Mileage sounds okay. I have 150K miles.

I would stop by one their police barracks and ask them if they can help for service records. For the most part State PD's take excellent care of their vehicles. I know the F.H.P. and N.J.S.P. do.
