First I’ve seen something like this. Do you have to push the button in to start the truck?
No. It lets you remove the key and locks the shift solenoid until the key is put back in. The engine and accessories, like AC, continue to run with the key out.

the device doesn’t effect normal operation unless it’s engaged.
