Alright no Tahoe progress but pretty happy about this fence so far. Bought every 8’ picket within a 20min radius so I didn’t get to finish but it looks pretty good so far. Should keep the nosey neighbor out and my junk safe. Crazy how big an 8’ privacy fence looks with a 6’ tall dude next to it. Will be planting bamboo on the inside eventually but for now this is a good start.

Ill have to look, but I believe its JK? Jeep endlinks? Their adjustable quick disconnects work for our backs, theres a few brands, I got the cheapo $40 and im not impressed with the bushings but hey its a swaybar endlink and the stainless quick disconnect hardware is nice. I feel like disconnecting them was the priority in their design more than on road performance while connected lol

Either way, Im developing a solution to use their parts to run the same disconnect in the front... Basically half a jk link with some fancy stainless hardware... If it works Ill have spare hardware so Ill sell some kits on here if anyone is interested in quick disconnect front swaybars? I have extras and its all in my Amazon history. Ive had to tinker with it and im not done. We wont know for sure till I build the front end, which now... 8lug... Lol
I ended up running some really nice heim endlinks from Tint @ NorCal SS. They aren’t quick disconnect but for this truck I don’t care. My off road truck doesn’t have any sway bars and despite being a TTB truck with super soft springs it’s fine in the road imo.

Fence looks great.

I have heard horror stories about bamboo. Not sure if there are different versions or whatever, but it takes over.

So there are different types, clumping and spreading. I bought a single stick of “sea breeze” a type of clumping bamboo years ago (covid or slightly precovid time frame) it has stayed a nice tight clump and has been super easy to maintain despite near zero maintenance. Literally just mow around it and the new shoots will get run over and get cut up if you don’t want it to get bigger.

Spreading bamboo will shoot new growth up feet away and invade quickly! It’s all about the type you get.

Anyway fence on the good neighbor side is complete. Please give me a rating 1-10.

The picture of bamboo is the clump I planted years ago in pure sand with no irrigation, no fertilizer, nothing. I plan to have this scooped with a tractor and I’m gonna break up the clump and replant it. But water the hell out of it and fertilize it.

That's a 10 in my book--but my book is no good, so......
Seriously, fence came out really good. Gonna treat it with something?

Not sure yet, it’s a metric phuckton of surface area so it will take many many gallons and a ton of time. Only way to do it would be spray. Might ask the painter I use at work what he would charge. I’m guessing 5-8k which is way more than I spent in material so it seems not worth it

Lol do something to it...

Oil changes on cheap paint rollers, turn the children loose!

Edit: also fuçk them about bamboo, i would have just used spreading forrest bamboo instead of fence

I believe "image" selective crabgrass killer will take it out iirc lol

Thats a good year ranger there, 3" wider but still Ibeams in the front lol

I still daydream about a double I-beam setup that would work like a massive SLA suspension, lol... Presumably with CV axles instead of what ford did

And maybe portals

Like an *over* center-mount prerunner ifs

The camber change is why beam trucks bite it changing direction whoops

Alright, I figured I should make a little thread on here since there seems to be a lot of activity on this forum. This build isn't all about performance it's a little bit of everything.

Went and bought a 2004 2wd 6.0 NV4500 5 speed manual transmission Tahoe out in the great state of Texas in Aug 2019. The owner was a respectable member of another forum and when he posted it for sale I jumped on it right away. My other truck has an NV4500 which I have had for several years and in and out multiple times so I already knew I really liked the NV4500 and getting a Tahoe already swapped saved me a lot of work

EDIT: Turns out the previous owner was a member here as well https://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/threads/04-tahoe-6-0-nv4500-2wd.113658/

Here's a crappy little video walk around from when I first got it.

And some pics

It’s been swapped, no gmt800 came factory manual. I bought it from a guy who swapped it, but I originally had a 2005 Silverado I swapped which is how I knew I’d love this thing.

No kids to paint the fence they cost to much, and no thanks on the oil stain it would take a ton and not look great I’ve done it to trailers before.

Fence then bamboo is best of both worlds, don’t have to wait for bamboo to grow to keep dog contained. And I can pre in my backyard again.

TTBs are awesome I love my Ranger! Not extended beams but cut and turned pulling considerable travel front and rear for what it is. Just enough suspension to flat foot it with a 4.0 just about wherever I want. Truck always impresses me, it’s so capable I really have no desire for another dedicated offroad rig. Expect my Willy’s of course but that’s more like a 4x4 golf cart.

Is that 4x4 beams or RWD i cant tell?

The beams are a nightma6in 4wd

It was a purely baja inspired setup lol

I had a couple lowered trucks like that, dream beams not slammed, used them for drift and also tons of old school dirt road/gravel road rally driving...

These drift kids today are stupid little *****

Real like touge drift was just old school rwd rally driving or like formula V (vintage f1) style driving...

Hudson hornet shit

Swedish flick

Hooking corners

Kids today arent even drifting theyre doing figure 8 donut ballet with umpteenth trillion hearse-purs

/Rant

Thats really what got me into off-road lol

Instead of rally/drift now Im into rally/pre-running

The less you touch tarmac the less legal woahs/track costs you gotta fight too lol

Just put my 3rd tranny in, my 03 Tahoe has 250km's 150 thousand miles, first two shops didn't change torque converter. So now I'm thinking aluminum 3 core rad and a cooler. I'm in Vancouver Canada so I have no choice on radiators up here. So I have one picked out on eBay comes from states that has a 3-year warranty. Not sure yet which transmission cooler get but I'm going to get the steel braided lines and then whatever the cooler comes with I'll probably use that. Any recommendations on the type of coolers?

It’s Dana 35 TTB so yes 4x4 and a front locker. I haven’t had issues other than wheel bearings but that’s solved as well with some camburg locking nuts. Oh and hubs, the dang plastic selector breaks off. Considering doing 44ttb swap just for the natal selectable hubs, the 35 metal hubs dried up a decade ago.

It’s bumped and strapped to 17” up front and like 19-20” rear I think. Nothing fancy just bilstein 7100s tuned by Wheel every weekend, and some hydro bumps. Of course rear shocks come through the bed, and it’s got a custom deaver 64” spring pack as well. But the front is really the champ, the rear needs some further modifications. Thing is fantastic I always wanted a beamed 4x4 truck and it exceeds my expectations. Lots of stuff id do different, but that’s only because I learned so much in this thing.

There’s a lot of threads on coolers and other life support items for 4l60 auto magic’s but I’ve never owned one so I’m the wrong guy to ask. I do know the Trucool 40k is highly recommended and should be easy to install. With autos it’s all about temp, just can’t help much because the only auto I own has a huge factory cooler and it’s a 4l80, so basically super tough from the factory.

Yeah my manual hunt is based on how long my 4l60 hangs in there after limping a blown head gasket where I cracked the block...

Like you, Im a man pedal guy so "Hot tranny fluid" sounds like a woke NBC "Kids Special" to me

I didnt think about it till it started acting kinda goofy

After throwing the built 862 heads for the BTR cam I have on it, trans got a lot better... May change fluid and see how it does

But the block turned out to be cracked

Doing heads to find out... Well it has compression but the exhaust is still like a sooty dryer vent...

Well that just blows ass

Its honestly run like a scalded dog for a year tho, water in the exhaust be damned

Nothing else is mixing so....
