I am all happy with my 18 city and 21+ highway, (as long as I stay below 80)

Yea the solder joints crack with age. Mine had the same problem. After a couple YouTube videos I took my cluster apart and fixed those connections and good as new

Tahoe mileage is dependent on rear gear ratios , whether it is 2wd or 4wd and keeping cruise rpms at 2k or below. If you have a truck that’s 4wd and has 3.73s or 4.10s you are screwed on the hwy. our ‘04 2wd will do 21.0 mpg at 65-67mph. Our ‘03 4wd has never gone better than 17 and most trips are 15 mpg. We rented a ‘16 that would do 23mpg at 79 mph all day long.

Dead stock ‘05 Tahoe. Around town/mild hiway use, about 14.8. Extended hiway driving, was 20.6.
This is according to the DIC.

all the little stuff you can do to a vehicle to increase the mpg adds up. my 97 runs about 18mpg avg back and forth to work. k&n intake, shortie headers, and i did a diy muffler swap.
