Thanks y'all. So come to find out the denatured alcohol was soaking into the sanded areas before paint. That's why the tails and vents came out like $H*T . So this time around I went back to the old school way and just used dish soap and water and everything laid down perfect. Which means I didn't lose my beast spray can skills, it was just a step that I added.
So now I'm motivated to paint more

Funny you mention denatured alcohol. It usually dries clean, but sometimes it creates an issue when it reacts or softens the surface it is meant to be cleaning.

Hence your soft and hazy non-beast painted parts originally. Have experienced this as well. Finished product winner.

Yea I've used it many a time when I worked at body shops and never had a problem. Maybe my garage was too humid , idk. This was a few weeks ago, but now that winter is officially here the air is more dry, mo betta for painting.

I think around 3 cans. 6-7 coats
I did bumper, entire grille, and the ugly grey valance all with black.
My valance is the only thing left that's plastidipped. Looks great and the texture of the valance grips the plastidip. Been on for over 2 years and no issues.

Yep, alaska prices. No mernards. Home depot only has black and white colors at $7 a can. Same with Lowe's. Auto zone and napa only have black and white, maybe bright blue and bright red.
Ace has tons of colors plus glossifier and metalizer.

I've been playing with it a lot lately. People hate it or love it. I love it, think It's a great invention.....but yes it is the poor man's vinyl wrap lol. It's great to use for example like if you wanted to quickly hide the chrome till you have money or parts for paint. If done right it looks great, most (ive seen) can't do it right.

Got bored. Dressed up the engine bay. Actually detailed it, I realized I haven't cleaned the engine bay since I got the truck 2 and a half years ago.
Used sharpie paint markers from home depot. Lightly wet sandy the letters and symbols that you 2ant to paint, that will create a surface for the paint to grip and a ledge so it doesnt drip over onto the surfaces you don't want to paint. I practiced on the 6.0 cover I had.

Then plastidipped the 3 piece cover with my custom cut 5.3 cover.
6 base coats of gunmetal gray.

3 coats of pearlizer and it creates a raw aluminium look. *Same effect if you used black as a base coat. The coverage is crazy quick, this is only after 1 coat.

All silver looked weird

So with my steady hand I took to a big fat black sharpie. 2 coats was applied.

Also used my beast coloring skills on other parts in the bay.

Dip is the whip, I agree with it being a great invention, does get a lot of hate becuz in a who’s dick is bigger game, if it doesn’t cost 1 million dollars, its trash...lol. You already know I practically dipped everything on my NBS.

Threw a little color in there just to play with these markers and show you guys how the colors look. Also gives it a modern look.

Little details like the washer fluid symbol blue instead of white
