well i noticed a few days ago that one of the seals on my master cylinder into the brake fluid resorvior is leaking, i dont know how the hell that happens but it did, it doesnt even look old or worn out, but anyways i was just wondering if they make seal kits for that, cause i dont need to buy a new master cylinder, they arent expensive but whats the point, and also how hard is it, i know ill have to rebleed the brakes but thats no biggie, does the resorvior just pop out and you can pull the old seals out and push in new ones?

hmmm well i did a little research and it looks like it might just be easier to replace the whole master cylinder as opposed to rebuilding it, at least the new one just bolts right on and all i gotta do is bleed it, plus it gives me an excuse to put fresh brake fluid in and bleed the whole system

that might be easier, does the reservoir just pop off the master cylinder?

yes. that number is supposed to be the reservoir and grommets. remember to bleed the cylinder before hooking of the lines and bleeding the brakes. And remember also that brake fluid destroys paint.

  1. Lubricate new reservoir grommets with silicone brake lube, then press grommets into master cylinder body. Ensure grommets are properly seated.
  2. Lay reservoir upside down on flat, hard surface. Press master cylinder body onto reservoir using rocking motion.

sweeeeet, thanks, i think ill do that, its cheaper that way, and if all else fails ill just buy a whole new master cylinder, at least its a relatively cheap and easy fix all around

Not a great one. But definitely room for available improvement. That sounds fishy to me But he could be ASSUMING that he thinks you you have a hydra boost setup. We Stock a 4-wheel brake system with disc in front, drums in back 10" for 2dr, 11" for 4dr with a Kesley-Hayes 4-wheel 3-sensor ABS system and a vacuum booster.
