I'm looking for aftermarket running board options. Currently have 2026 Yukon and the stock running boards are just to high for my wife.

Has anyone installed aftermarket power running boards from Rough Country?

Is there a way to lower the stock running boards with an aftermarket bracket?

Thanks in advance.

You can use spacers and longer bolts to drop it down a little. I believe the power steps lower to the same height as factory but I may be wrong. If you have a local supplier like Anchor they’ll have plenty of options. You can also buy from them online.

I wouldn’t think 2026 is mich different from 2025, but I could be wrong…

Is there a reason why GM doesn't offer the retractable running boards on the Z71? Could the AMP Research steps be installed on a Z71 or a RST?

It may have something to do with the added height. Amp has retractable running boards for them. You may just want to check how far they extend.

Probably to [have the tube steps] look/act more like rock sliders on the "off-road" model.

Power running boards usually drop a few inches lower then the normal ones. The normal ones used to use L shape brackets to attach them so it could be a bit of work to lower them, then there'd be an odd gap.

Just saying but if you have the air suspension you can set it up to lower the car when parked.

Not a clue, since the OP hasn't been on here since mid-November 2025, unfortunately.
I'm picking up my new RST tomorrow and I am definitely putting on electric boards. I'm leaning towards the RC's because they have 4 motors and I do not wish to plug into my OBD. Not a lot of threads on here regarding this subject.

I have a standard (factory) 2021 Yukon Denali with powered running boards. Looks like 12" from floor to step on mine.
