I'm back from my trip into the Berkshires and Adirondack mountains, and I got some good insight into my current 4.10 gears and supercharger setup.

My mileage with the 4.10 gears and supercharger was 15.3 mpg on the trip, and that compares to 17.1 mpg on a previous trip with 3.42 gears and the supercharger. BUT, the 2 trips were on different roads with different elevation maps, so my mpg findings may be a bit distorted. The first trip was on predominantly on reasonably level roads, and the most recent trip was on a significantly larger percentage of miles in the mountains. My feeling is that if both tests were on the SAME road, the difference in mpg between the 2 gear ratios would be substantially smaller.

Here is the most interesting insight that I got. With the 3.42 gears traveling through the mountains at 60-75 mph, I would get gear downshifts on the most upward inclined portions on the mountain roads. I'm not sure what the supercharger was doing, as I did not have a boost gauge at the time. With the 4.10 gears, I very rarely got a downshift on the most upward inclined portions on the mountain roads. What I did see, though, was that I got between 1.0 and 2.5 lbs. of boost from the supercharger, when going on the most upward inclined portions on the mountain roads, but still remaining in 6th gear. As such, my supercharger got much less work than I had anticipated on this trip. I will note that I used my cruise control on most of the trip.

On the trip home, it was in the 90's temperature-wise, and for the first time, I saw coolant temperatures go above 210 degrees, perhaps as high at 225 degrees on the most upward inclined portions on the mountain roads. If I turned off the AC, the coolant temperature would retreat back to 210 degrees. My question to the Forum Members is, can I upgrade my cooling fans to the 700 watt cooling fans as a direct plug and play upgrade? And, do I need a different wiring harness and connectors to achieve this upgrade?

Man...you are really giving me (more) of an itch for a SC. I'm just not sure if it's wise to do on a motor with 170K...but back to your issue...

How old is your radiator? They do lose some of their ability to transfer heat over the years, how much I'm not sure but I have heard of that being a phenomenon. Take an old radiator, add in some outside elements coating the fins, and maybe yours is just on that cusp of losing to mother nature. Just a thought and again, I'm not 100% on that being a thing but worth a look into.

I installed my supercharger at 155k miles. Almost everything under the hood, including the entire cooling system is new.

Changed my oil today at 10% left.. Installed a PF48UPR filter..
But somehow my drained oil only went to the 4quart mark... :wtf2:

I made less mess than usual, and that 4qts includes draining the filter..
Ordered a bunch of Valvoline R&P everyone is talking about, but I have 3 more jugs of costco oil to use up..

Maybe 1/2 qt was due to truck leaning left, away from the drain plug? Still it was lower than I'm used to forsure..

Hmm..ok. Well, other than the possible suspected lack of airflow, I know you didn't ask this but, perhaps at that throttle setting, load, RPM pulling that grade...that this could be a power enrichment issue? Maybe it was just running a tad lean or could benefit from some extra fuel to cool things down. Your PE map may be setup for not having as much load in that area....just an idea.

Tried something with the LED fog light bulbs in my ‘13 Escalade ESV.

Was doing some reading and found that the H10 9145 OEM bulb size is the same base/socket as the HB3 9005 (high beam) bulb.

Bulb on the left driver side is:

Bulb on the right passenger side is:

A noticeable brighter output width and distance on the road.

Did some towing today. Handled it pretty well except for the C0710 code it threw when almost home. Don't think its related but we'll see how it drives tomorrow. It was a very cool and wet day, but trans temps didn't get over 175 so thats nice.

Piston rings are gapped. Aimed for .028 top ring and .030 2nd ring, but I overshot a few of them a tiny bit lol a little loose is fine. Checked the rod bearing clearances. Had to run extra clearance half shells on 2 of them, but now they’re all .0028 with one being .0027 and one is .0029 so I think that’s perfect. Rods and pistons are together now. Those spiralocks are fun but not too bad when you get the hang of it.

I got 4 of the pistons installed and then SMASHED my finger between the engine stand handle and one of the braces… it’s kind of a sketchy design. Broke the nail straight across way far back on my pointer finger so pretty much gonna lose the nail entirely. Almost passed out so I’m gonna call it quits tonight lol

Harbor Freight is having a sale this weekend. 20% off any single item each day for members (10% for non members) so I got a 5-75 lb-ft icon torque wrench and I’m getting a nice size US General toolbox in the morning!

Tried to Replace the rear AC lines since thats why I really bought the truck. Well lines are fused to the rear core and I'm not about to open that can of worms right now.
Rear block off plates are coming. Need AC lol having a newborn in a couple weeks and if I dont get AC in this truck the wife will kill me lol.

Glad I didn’t make the workbench any shorter! I removed the casters but left the bolts which protrude just enough so it’s sitting in the bolts and not the box. Also superglued some of those little felt pads to the bolt heads.

This 5-75 is such a good range and the size and 3/8 drive is nice. I really like Icon stuff
