That sounds mighty painful...
Glad your on the mend!

How did you fall?
(So hopefully the rest of us won't do the same.)
Short answer: "I was stupid."

Long answer: I was rushing to work with both arms full of stuff, walking down four steps into my garage. I didn't bother to turn on the garage light, since there isn't a 3-way on the opposite end to turn it back off. I caught the heel of my right foot on the nose of the last step, and had no way to arrest my fall. I went straight down and hyper-flexed my knee (sat on heel). I felt and heard the tendon snap. Thankfully my wife could hear me scream from the other side of the house with the door closed. Had surgery two weeks later (on Christmas Eve) to reattach the tendon. I've been in a steel brace ever since. The PT folks finally let me start walking with the knee unlocked last week. I'm still looking at another week or two before I can bend it enough to drive. My wife had bilateral total knee replacement about 5 years ago, and her recovery was way faster. I wouldn't wish this on anyone. And to think it only took a couple of seconds of inattention and bad decision making to sign up for this.

I'll be honest...My Yukon and Buick will be the last GM Product I buy that isnt pre 1980s or a C5/C6. We all know the downfalls of the yukon which isnt terrible. But this Encore is easily one of the Worst GMs i've ever owned. It only has 112k On it. Turbos going bad. Oil Cooler lines leaking, Coolant Leak that I havent found, Exhaust has broken in 3 different spots. The 1.4L engine is gutless. It bogs just turning on the headlights. I could rant on further but once this new baby comes out. It'll be put up for sale and I'll go get an VW Tiguan or Atlas for her or we'll go to the minivan world.

It sucks that they've gotten so cheap over the years. I grew up a GM Fanboy, First car was a grand am. My mom owned every generation of Jimmy and that was my Highschool car. Owned countless Lesabres, Grand Prix GTPs, Cobalt SS.
Get a nice early to mid 80's G body and swap in an LS, or a big block. You'd get less mpg, but more spg (smiles per gallon).

Thinking about looking at a Ford Excursion.. not to replace my Tahoe, but as a backup hauler/camping vehicle..

Anyone driven an Excursion for comparison? And know what to look for?
I have nothing to add, other than the few folks I know with HD fords hate them. Underpowered and rust-prone.

Thanks for sharing, a good reminder..

Slow down youngster!

And screw it, leave the lights on..
I plan to add a three-way this summer when I do some other wiring out there. I have to wait until I can climb a ladder. In the meantime, I installed a couple of battery motion lights beside the steps. I also extended, and more solidly mounted the handrail, just in case I remember to use it.

it's $69.96 + tax at the autoparts store I think the dealer charges $95 or something like that.
always keep the old one in the jack storage just in case.....
That's what I did, just in case.......

Then, when it happened, I realized that I did NOT pack a breaker bar and 15mm socket in the truck to install the replacement belt. :893karatesmiley-thu:banghead::emotions122::doh2:

I've been leaving the tools I use in the back, so hopefully I'll have whatever is needed when there's an issue..
BUT I keep putting the breaker bar back in the garage! (because it's longer than the little tool bag I have..)
Brake bleeders are an 11mm! (On one end anyways. Might be the later model front calipers)

It's a PPV, right? Maybe the previous owners practiced on the door with their Slim Jims. :superhack:
Regular z71.
I'm wondering if ice would do that to the window seal... It's like that on both sides :(

for me it's more so for road trips. For around town it's no big deal we have 3 vehicles. I intermittently have my tool bag in the back, depends if I go to the junkyard then it might stay in truck for 3 months.....
If we go anywhere tool bag and scanner, tire repair kit and compressor get loaded up. All the other macygver crap is already stuffed in the jack compartment.
one thing that I don't normally take or carry around that I used to is a few feet of bailing wire. I have like a 100ft roll I need to cut off like 10ft and put it on a little spool
if not for me then to maybe help someone else out. I have given more jump starts than anything

I have a larger size 1/2" ratchet w/tilt head that fits in my bag and works perfect for the belt, the tilt head on that thing has made other things easy as well. folds down to about 16"
I have the harbor frieght larger one also but it stays in the rollaway
craftsman 44816 I know I didn't pay $100 for this thing I probably picked it up at the flea market for $30

Got a weird issue with Cold Starts. Its starting to stumble and it actually died yesterday at start up. Thinking the Fuel Pump is started to die. Neato
