Hi all,
i am looking to shave lift gate. I will defiantly be deleting window button but, i want to remove wiper as well. My concern is that here in new england we get lots of snow rain dirt dust debris etc etc etc. My question is has anyone shaved rear wiper and daily the truck with out issues in areas with 4 seasons?
Thanks
-Aaron

I know this isn't a "true" shave by removal, fill and fair, but figured I'd post it up for you see in the meantime.

I've seen a couple other guys on here shaved completely smooth, but no reports based on what you are asking. Even with the plugs, it has not let me down since last fall and achieved removing that dangling branch wiper right now to satisfy that urge. Good luck

I'd say go for it. Up in the midwest I see everything imaginable and have never used my rear wiper yet-and that is for 4 years.....wiperless will be in my future as well. It looks so good without.

Thanks. it sure does look awesome. If It was going to be my daily it would be a no brainer. Just trying to decide if the wife will like no wiper

Haha smart man.... being she hasn't driven truck in over a year probably doesn't know where it is or how to use rear view mirror. She does use it on her cross trek often decisions, decisions

Wife solution.

Remove switch and remove wiper.

Man happy with shave and wife none the wiser. Man happy twice with shave and wife not mad at him for modding yet again.

FTW!! Haha

if only it were that easy. she hasn't had the truck in awhile been a modding project once i get a little closer the the finish line i prob start a build thread. its an 03 rebuild top end, rebuild trans, body lift, roll pan, one off trailing arms, panhard bar, all poly bushings everywhere, coil over conversion leveled to match 771 rear springs 41 1/2 ground to fender on stock rubber, 05-06 2500hd conversion, full interior sound deading, all stainless braided oil/trans coolerlines all new brake lines, new inner and outer rockers are next big project and at minimum a rear window button delete.. i just got to decided on rear wiper 5 months of snow makes me nervous to delete it but it looks sooooo good...

hmmm, Wisconsin is very similar to New England with weather... How nasty does the window get in the winter like unable to see out of it or still useable??

You can still see out of it fairly good at its dirtiest. I use rain-x on all my windows though-it really helps to have all rain, snow, and grime bead up and roll off.

I'm up in Alaska. Bought my tahoe about a year ago. Went through my first winter purposely not using the rear window wiper to see if it bothered me. It didn't. Maybe cause it's my first suv and I've only had pickups before so a rear wiper wasn't even an option lol. I rely mainly on my side mirrors, habit of a truck driver. People, cargo, and eventually a flip down tv will block that view anyway.
But there's plenty of gas stations all over that have window squeegees in case it gets too dirty, which still mine never really got that dirty.
So +1 on the shave.
I plan on having mine shaved soon but for now I've got the same look as fosscore

Shaved my handle and wiper on my 07 (Check build thread for pics). Granted I had zero issues here in Houston, but my friend who bought the Tahoe lives in Denver. Said its never a problem really. Use your mirrors and youll be just fine. Add a backup cam too to make it that much easier when its salt covered. There's nothing better than a shaved gate!

I cant remember because I don't work on NBS much anymore, but I think your gate is aluminum. Make sure whoever shaves it knows what they're doing!

Yea not sure if it's 03+ or all are aluminum, but Ive heard there are some steel ones out there. Take a magnet to it.
I'm still looking for a guy who does aluminum to do mine :-/

Ya mine is an 03 and is aluminum. I will probably cut some aluminum or sheet metal and use panel bond . I will do some more research and let everyone know the route I take.
