I don't understand. If you do not care or have interest in the 2015.5 Denali update - why linger and post in a stream solely related to said subject?

I believe an 8 speed..before the 10 speed coming..

Ford is the WORST at updating. Like the new 2003 Navigator being repackaged as a 2015?

I drive Ford Duty trucks. I love them as my sports car and store them in the winter. My current truck is a 600/1,200 tq 2008. as I was eagerly waited to order a new 2011, I found out that the basic look was still the same with an unproven Ford built diesel, so I waited for the next round
The all new 2015 was coming and I was ready to order again, same body, fenders. cab. So I passed again.
Now..finally.. an all aluminum Super Duty version is suppose to come out in the spring of 16' as a 17'
I might be dead from old age before they finally change the look, but here's hoping......
What's the specs on your SD? I just picked up a 08 myself. Kinda new to the platform coming from a Dodge with a trillion miles.

If it's a 6.4L Power Stroke, the first thing you want to do is delete the DPF and disable the EGR.
Those early Tier 3 Emissions systems absolutely kills the engine, and potential.
The engine itself is a marvel that has everything you need to build power. High flowing lift pump, rail volume and compound Turbos. $2,500 buys you 300,000 miles of 600 horses and 1,200 lbs with decent EGTs for towing.

PM me if you want some direction with power vendors.

sssiglover,
We are both gear heads, but NEVER look back on that purchase. I'd rather be driving than looking from the outside in..
The problem with the 15' is the 16'.
The problem with the 16' is the 17'. Etc, Etc.
The chase never ends.

The trans will make a big difference on a weaker 5.3L, but not so much on a 420/460 engine.
I would however get rid of the factory programming governing the trans. The 6 speed does hunt, but that's not the transmissions fault, it's the mushy, velvet programming from the factory.

Gas mileage? I myself couldn't care less.

Was there this much bashing when GM changed transmissions in the previous model. And the 8 speed is no surprise, I knew it was coming in March when I ordered mine and didn't give it a second thought.

Anyway, washed mine this weekend, took the family out, outdated 6 speed and all. Have fun waiting and don't grip when its delayed, and don't brag when you get it about how stupid all us 6 speed guys were for not waiting. Either way, they are really nice rides.

I had to drive a Mercedes ML yesterday, that really made me appreciate the Yukon, I know, not a fair comparison, but that thing was gear searching like crazy.

meh,

really? I have 4 MB products (1 AMG) and one happens to be a GL450. All come with a 7 speed transmission. I have never had any of the transmissions hunt for gears. Must be the way YOU drive.

Gotta love forums. " Its not the car, its the way "you" drive", awesome.

The V6 seemed under powered which forced it to hesitate and hunt for a down shift in slow traffic. Caveat, I am not a professional driver. Thus my observation is both unqualified and meaningless to this thread.

I want to be very careful as not to offend the Mercedes guys, even though they don't have an 8 speed either.

This is fun.

I just got off the phone with GM regarding the 6 vs 8 speed transmission. Their recommendation was that if you purchased the 6 speed, to put a brick on the pedal and run it off a cliff. Then go buy the 8 speed.

Apparently the 6 speed will stop working once the 8 speed is released.

So cliff notes on this thread...

1. 8 speed trans which nobody has driven in real world conditions and has just been read about is super awesome and will be an epic upgrade.
2. Might as well keep 6 speed '15 because 8 speed trans which nobody has driven in real world conditions and has just been read about is probably going to be a POS.
3. Drive 6 speed trans equipped vehicle off cliff cuz it'll be rendered useless upon release of 8 speed kinda like Y2K.
4. Buying a new '15 Denali and selling a couple months later is only profitable if you're a dealer
5. Don't rag on the Mercedes Benz 6 speed unless YOU are a professional driver because there's absolutely NOTHING wrong with a Mercedes Benz.....ever!
6. Africa needs your money and apparently needs to be free
7. We all love forums and the mish mash of personalities with which it attracts

Exactly.

Oh and don't forget,

GM sucks because they cant fill the enormous amount of orders for POS 6 speed equipped vehicles that nobody likes because the theoretical 8 speed is awesomer than all the others.

Note: Spelling error was intentional and I am not a professional driver and I am wearing pants and I do own a 15 Yukon XL with a 6 speed(actually the bank owns it)

I thought it is a monumental upgrade, not epic and we have ludicrous people who wont drink the koolaid. Not that there is anything wrong with epic.
