changed oil and filter. mobil1 high milage 5w-30. added half a bottle of rislone to work the boogers out.

ok , so WTF is ith the location of the oil filter on the fwd ?? of course the thing was on there tighter than a frogs ass. i didnt have a filter adapter to fit , so i used , or tried to use vice grip filter pliers but couldnt get enough bite. ended up having to puncture the filter with a screw driver and turn it. friggin messy:insane: couldnt the engineers come up with a better way than that 90 degree adapter? if anybody has a "trick" im listening... something that should have taken me 15 min turned into an hour.

When you put the new filter on, only go moderately hand tight, that way it won't seize on. Other than that, I like to turn the driveshaft at a 45° and that way the oil drains nicely down it with one drip line off it into the catch pan.

unknown at this time.
Looked under the hood to see how the new headers are doing. Also got a data capture run. May need to De-Jack my t-bars a bit. I think when I jacked them up it really hurt the aerodynamics. I Think I lost about 2 mpg after jacking them up. Any thoughts?

Wouldn't be surprised. The aerodynamics of an obs are horrid anyways. Think a shoe is more aerodynamic

Bought some new tires for the tahoe. Found out I need to replace the front diff seals. So I plan on replacing the wear and tear parts while I'm in there. Ring and pinion should be fine. I'll probably scour the site for info and possibly start a thread with questions.

Also found out I have a cracked shoe. Wanted to replace rear brakes a while ago, but surgery and time got away from me. Now to find time working third shift with one day off and little day light and cold.

Center caps off for retorq at 100 miles and I need to modify the new bolts for a flush for. The old ones had stripped heads.

Considering mileage depends on Coefficient drag and frontal area, I would suspect it does have a very negative effect on mpg. The basic formula is Cd x Frontal Area x Density of Air x Speed Squared. So if you increased your frontal area by raising the truck, plus figure in the fact the front air dam isn't as effective at reducing the drag under the vehicle, I would think its very plausible that lowering the front end would be beneficial.

That being said, there is no substitute for sitting up high :driver:

Im planning on going a little old school mixed with performance. It has an 8 month old rebuilt 5.7L. I am going to do a RV Cam, Headers, Intake, Hypertech chip, corvette servo, MSD Ignition and possibly up the gears to 3.73 with limited slip form the open 3.07 rearend it has now.

I also plan to repaint it and do a DJM 4/6 drop on 1996 Impala SS rims :evillol:

Basically a 4-door version of this!

Been changing all my lines. Last week was oil cooler today was power steering. Hopefully I got them tightened down good enough so they don't leak. I had to go to Lowes to get a 16 stubby wrench, that made things ten times easier.
