My 6 year old made that for me shortly before she messed up my shim layout and I had to redo all my setup again.I love that box.

I'm sure it'll be a fun story to tell your grand kids.My 6 year old made that for me shortly before she messed up my shim layout and I had to redo all my setup again.
I agree. I miss spending time with my kids. They're adults now.I'm not mad, I'd rather her be outside with me, than inside playing on a tablet or something.
Much respect. Differentials might as well operate on magic and unicorn tears as far as I’m concerned.Installed a truetrac in my escalade. This job turned into a bit of a headache for various reasons, but i was able to get it resolved. View attachment 479755View attachment 479756
I have built probably a 1000 diffs over the years and NEVER had this happen. I was able to get it out super easy, but it still is a kick in the nuts. I was doing my final torque pass and on the last bolt i was thinking, man this bolt feels weird, then snap.

come to find out it looks like my torque wrench went bad and i was significantly over torquing the bolts.
Got new bolts and got that part resolved. I was able to get my backlash to .0045" and tossed it all back together before running out of daylight. Still need to toss the brakes on and button up the cover. But the hard part is done at this point.

I'm trying to find a gloss black one for my hoe. If anyone has seen one. I've found matte black that's paint ready.View attachment 479523
A bit more finish sanding and will be ready for paint this weekend. Still not sure if I should paint the bow tie black or keep it white

When it comes to DAing, been nervous thinking I would burn the paint. Just one of those things I never really got into.just meguirs compound, polish, and wax with a da
Nah. I had it set to 89 ft lb and snapped a bolt. After I put my digital adapter it read 125 when it clicked over at 89. This thing is like 25 years old, so its probably time for a new one.Bwahahaha! Translation: I was reading Nm instead of Ft lbs on the wrench
I was just messing with you man. I said that cuz I've actually done it myself. Luckily I didn't break bolts tho. And it wasn't on a vehicle eitherNah. I had it set to 89 ft lb and snapped a bolt. I'm a noob and it isn't that bad, i think I could go deeper and get more defects out but it is good enough for me. these trucks have so much surface area its a big job definitely don't rush itWhen it comes to DAing, been nervous thinking I would burn the paint. Dont forget the ones for the rear heatercore. Mine crumbled when i took them off.finally got around to upgrading all the heater core quick connects...
nothing wrong with this set of plastic replacement ones yet... they weren't looking fresh though and I didn't want to wait for them to explode and leave someone stranded.

Keep this updated, I have been planning out the same upgrade on my escalade just haven't got around to it yet, I retrofitted my Denali about 10 years ago and the light output is WAY better than the escalade HID reflector setup.Starting playing around with a set of headlights. My OEM ones are done and proper HIR bulbs aren't cheap and don't perform well so a retrofit is in the cards...unfortunately these are really shallow housings so we cant do this the easy way. Trying out some NHK Bi Leds in the lows. Ill just run 9011s in the highs- should be plenty of light for the occasional times i need high beams.
Damn thanks... i have that open right now too. I didnt even think about those. Same part number?Dont forget the ones for the rear heatercore. Mine crumbled when i took them off.
