I bought my truck 2 weeks ago. I love this motor but every video I see on YouTube is now thrust bearing grenading. Where do I look on my truck for the build date. I bought the extra insurance but still.

I'd say stop worrying about it and just drive it. If it happens, you have the warranty.

It’s all the “influencers” making their click bait videos to get views. It’s the unfortunate side of YouTube.

Yes, the thrust bearing has been an issue on the LZ0 - it seems to be isolated to a few months of build dates, but the data is still being collected.

Drive it, enjoy it and know that if something goes awry - you have a warranty.

Build date of the vehicle is on the sticker at the bottom of the LH B-pillar. Open the driver door and you’ll see it. Motor build date is hard to get eyes on it. Usually it’s a month or two before the vehicle build date.

Just had the dealer measure the bearing and was found to be in spec, 12,500 miles and June Build.

A friend walked in while I was at dealer with his 2026 3.0 and the engine had just failed at 5K, miles. There was no ETA for a new engine.

My 2025 Tahoe Z71 just hit 6600 miles (including 2x 1700 mile trips) no issues. Love this ride and the mpg it provides!

Any more updates. Considering ordering a 2026 Denali XL diesel. Man, seems like GM is a dumpster fire. Maybe I should stick with my March 2024 build LM2.

People use web message boards to complain. If your truck or car is running fine, you're not going to go on the web and say "running fine - nothing to report". This is not to excuse GM's failures. I am sorry to hear about the diesel failures. Maybe they should have stuck w the LM2. GM needs to get its act together. It's inexcusable. But these are great passenger vehicles and the turbodiesel really fits them. I would not sell mine if you paid me full retail and threw in an x7 or range Rover for free.

Just had a service done today at my GMC dealer and spoke to my longtime service writer/friend and asked about the LZ0 thrust bearing failures at his dealership. He told me that they have had about a dozen failures and that his dealership has sold thousands of vehicles with the LZ0 engine (it is a very large dealership here in Phoenix, AZ), he also told me that GM factory engineer(s) will be visiting them tomorrow to inspect an engine that has been removed and torn apart with the vehicle currently in the shop.

Highest LZ0 thrust bearing failure percentage I have seen on the interwebs is about 2.5%. Seems to be a bit of an over reaction to me.

I'll take my chances, given I have a power train warranty.

Yep, same here after talking to my service writer friend he said not to worry about it as there is such a small percentage of failures and he did say no where even close to the 6.2 failures! My LZ0 only has 4,000 miles on it and running like a Swiss watch!

Wasn’t the failure rate on the recalled 6.2’s estimated to be around 3%. I know gremlins still in the 2025’s and maybe some of the early 2026’s…. But I feel like it’s slowing down the farther you get from the July 2024 recall window.

Based on current chatter I would be indifferent between a 2026 3.0 and 6.2, especially with diesel 35% more than premium gas right now lol. There is a good amount of online posts about LZ0 issues, including engine replacements.
