A/C requirements

Does anyone know the right amount of freon required for a 1997 Tahoe LS without rear air. I see posts of 2, 2.25 and 3 pounds. The posts also state that trucks only equipped with front a/c is between 2-2.25 pounds. However the sticker on the a/c unit under my hood states 3 pounds. This leads me to the next point of confusion where posts states that GM sometimes used the 3 pound sticker regardless of the option code...

The sticker for refrigerant capacity should be on top of your A/C accumulator canister near the firewall. My 97 Yukon GT 2 door is 2.25 lbs.

It is as I stated that reads 3 pounds.

Replacing the compressor on 1997 Tahoe LT 2 door 5.7L, it has C60 front A/C. The old accumulator has the factory sticker on it and it says the refrigerant capacity is 3lbs. of R134. I can't find any chart that agrees with the factory sticker, they all say 2 or 2.25lbs. Could someone look at...

The above link was my thread when I did the AC on my Tahoe. It's still cooling fine and I've never added any more freon than the initial charge.

I just brought mine out of storage, and drove it for 3 days. There was zero AC charge in it. I have a slow leak somewhere, but it passed vacuum test, put in 2.25lbs of R134A. It blows snow out of the vents, and the CD player works!

For what it’s worth, here’s the page from the 1998 manual. It doesn’t mention the 2-door or why any of them without rear air wouldn’t have the same capacity as a pickup since they, presumably, have the same a/c system.
