I'm seeing a few posts but not for the GMT800. Any recommendations on aftermarket weather stripping? I'm told not all brands are created equal. I want to buy new seals for the front two doors in the least (they see the most use). Several options on RockAuto for brands...

On a separate note, the newer vehicles seem to have an inner and an outer seal. The outer seal on GMT800 isn't much of anything. I'm thinking of rigging something with "stick anywhere" stripping... My friend had said he used this stuff and liked it:

if those were my options the dorman would be my choice based on price, warranty and perceived quality, some of there products can be hit-n-miss but generally thats more on the hardware end. I replaced my center console lid with a dorman it's been holding up well
The good thing is generally dorman fit's well.

I had similar thoughts as Doorman was the only brand I recognized on the list there. Going through summit racing catalog and only brand that had any feedback was like $100+ for one door. My guess is this stuff all comes from the same factory / roll and it cut to length and shaped for corners somehow.

I'd also be interested if there's a place to spec and buy the stuff in bulk. Say just buy a 100ft length and cut it to fit.

you can find rolls, but it's generic stuff that is not likely to fit properly, crap ton of it on amazon

@homesick I'm going to give them a try! It seems to be $40 cheapest or about $150 for most expensive on RockAuto. Steele has a phone number though lol I can call and complain if there's any issue.

Thanks!

Be sure and let us know how that turns out. I need to do that to mine, too much wind noise right next to my one good ear.

I ordered the Fairchild and actually just put it on tonight. Initially stuff seems alright. Now I want to the rear passenger doors and the rear barn doors. Rock Auto doesn't have for the barn doors though.

Will be interested to hear how it fairs. I called Steele and sent them some notes. Looking to do something custom. I'm going to of course change the seal on the door sill itself. Starting with the front door.

The door seal design though leaves a LOT to be desired, concerning the outer seal. The upper outer seal is fine. The lower part SUCKS MISSERABLY. I think the seal between the doors (fender too if possible) should run all the way around the door. The lower seal is the biggest peice of junk ever. It's that little flap of rubber. I'd like that to go the FULL length of the rocker, and or replace it with something else.

I'm NOT a fan of newer vehicles, although, they seem to have made doors seals MUCH better on newer stuff. I'd like of like to achieve something like newer trucks have.
