Ok guys. I’m new to the forum so be easy on me. Lol.
I have a 1994 GMC Yukon that I’ve had for about 10 years that I’m trying to get back to being able to drive daily. I had to park it for several months while I was working on it due to finances. I recently replace the radiator, battery & alternator.
It cranked right up but is smoking unfortunately. I just replaced the egr, map sensor, pcv valve & drained the old gas and replaced the fuel filter and new oil and filter hoping it would solve the issue. But it’s still smoking. Also pretty strong exhaust smell which it’s had forever I just figured the smell was an exhaust leak.

It starts right up and doesn’t run hot and no engine lights are on.

I drove it down my driveway and did notice it didn’t seem to have the original power?

I did notice a brake light is on but haven’t had a chance to look at that.

Is there anything else that I could replace to try and resolve the smoking?

I’m really hoping to get this thing running.
Unfortunately I draw a military check each month which puts me on a very tight budget. I usually have to fix everything myself and can’t afford to pay anyone.
I would really appreciate any advice and trust me I don’t take any help for granted.

Can you clarify smoking?
like as in coming out the tail pipe?
or the engine compartment is smoking, etc
if it is coming out the tail pipe, is it all the time? or only when you first start it up? like a few puffs and then it stops?
or??? we kinda just need a better definition of the issue.

Need to do a little diagnosing of where the smoke is coming from and what fluid is being used to provide the smoke.

Sorry. It’s out of the tailpipe. And it doesn’t stop. It doesn’t run hot and it sounds good idling. Cranks right up without any hesitation. Thank you for responding

OK, we have the where. Now we need the what. Coolant makes steam and if it has antifreeze it has a very distinctive smell. Oil makes blueish smoke and smells different. Obviously if it is burning a fluid that fluid level will drop. A vehicle that has been sitting might have accumulated moisture in the exhaust and that will show steam out of the tailpipe.

I would double check that the new pcv valve is installed correctly and that it is not stuck, then just drive it a little bit, what may have happened is some oil seeped thru the valve guides and piston rings from sitting, so either it will smoke a bit at first and then burn off and then it may stop or it may only do it at startup, or it will just continue to smoke in which case may it may need seals and rings. but that's just a guess without seeing what's been done. double check your work if everything looks right drive it a bit and see if it clears up
