I had the harmonic balancer off and I could get it to spin, but not come out. I was worried about breaking the tab off or having to drill and tap into it with a slide hammer. That method doesn’t work. I’ll give the prying and 90° pliers a go after a dosage of Kroil.
I've broken the tab off... so annoying. At that point it's farked, but if you are replacing it anyways, you can't make it worse.

Literally no amount of lube helped get it out... it's a bare aluminum bore. And the ever-so-slightly expanded hard plastic is going to fight. Just keep twisting and it'll come out. I even did one on an engine that was already out of the car, and it was still annoying.

I've still got the JVC dvd unit from my Sierra, sitting in a box in my basement. I'd consider using it, its just adapters id need BUT the big thing is i dont want to give up my XM radio, and i cant get the XM tuner that works with that unit anymore.

By the time Im in a new unit and all the stuff still needed, im way more then the Naviks unit. And honestly for me, the factory stuff is working just fine for me
unless it is a pretty old jvc the external xm tuners have been universal for quite some time, I have had a xm lifetime subscription since like a year after they started the service,
if you have lifetime or if you pay for it there is a app and a web page you can use both or all I can be logged into it on multiple devices. I even still have my old receiver and fm dock I used to use a longgggg time ago before they started integrating xm into everything. that old receiver and dock is over 20 years and still works fine, I plugged in about a month ago and let it update the channels which I do from time to time, still have my portable sirius boom box too, I had lost (misplaced buried in a box somewhere) the antenna to it and bought a replacement off ebay about a month ago as well when I was messing with the tuner because the antenna for the boom box has a smaller lead and a regular antenna wont fit.
but anyway, ya changing the headunit is not a cheaper alternative unless you get lucky and find a whole used harness

interesting... so i was looking at it. its a round black plug with maybe a 8-10 pins in it.

The h/u is from 2014 so its 11 years old. It was really nice when i had it in my old sierra, but the chime box is annoying and i feel like theres probably not a lot of room behind the headunit like most GM cars for all the crap that needs to interface.

I kinda just like the idea of an inline, plug and play device. plus like you said, once i get a harness and all the boxes to make the camera, RSE, and steering wheel controls work, im still a couple hundred bucks into it. And thats even assuming that old headunit even powers on after sitting in its box for the last 5.5 years

if you look up the manual it should tell you the name of the xm adapter, sounds like the standard one that has been around for years now, it has a small din plug

The front-end squeak is driving me batty now that it's warm enough to roll into town with the windows open. I have boxes of new strut parts (upper mount, isolator, rubber skirts?, plus new sway bar bushings and silicone goop), but it would kill me if it was the 5100 pistons/seals themselves that are squeaking during compression & rebound.

Got a leaking CV boot on the ‘07. What are y’all liking for replacement axles these days? OEM is an option at $269, but Cardone also makes new ones that sell for 1/4 that price.

I vote used oem if you can find one local at the junkyard or a higher end dismantler, be aware the tariff effect is just kicking in, import traffic is down about 35%
not sure where the new oem axles are made either north or south probably
probably a grip of them on ebay

Y’all are hard core! A whole new aftermarket axle assembly is $75.
still I would rather spend $75 on a used oem, the good thing is there are tons of used ones out there 07-14
at the local yard they are $37.99, $95 complete with hub & knuckle, another is listed as 4X4 $52
30 days exchange, 1yr warranty optional with +30% added on top of listed part price

Tell you what. I bought a new axle, but I will also buy a boot, repair the old one on the bench, and keep it in my inventory.

Love the plan!

Since my Wilwoods were off my ‘15 Yukon XL Denali and have been sitting in the garage I decided let’s go ahead and disassemble these, rebuild them with new piston seals and hardware before throwing them on the ‘13 Escalade ESV.

Once we got that far I decided let’s change the color on them since they’re all a part in pieces. Red calipers are everywhere…

It was quite a challenge to find and source high temp vinyl “wilwood” “4 PISTON” and “6 PISTON” decals. Had to be high-temp vinyl cause the color was powder coated on, then high-temp vinyl decals applied, and a coat of clear powder coat over the decals. They turned out great.

The color is different, admittedly still growing on me. They have an awesome metallic that really pops in the sun.

Installed a battery tender today on the 2500; as many know I bought an XT5 a few months ago and have been putting miles on it instead of the beast.

Went with a Deltran Battery Tender Junior which allows me to wire it directly onto the battery, and can unplug just like the block heater. Based on everything I've read it's probably not a great idea to remote start while it's attached so I have the hood propped open to keep me from making that mistake.

The 2500 gets out 1 or 2 times a month unless we are on a road trip and it's just not enough to keep the battery charged anymore.
