I've been looking for a pretty long time for something decent and close and not horribly expensive. The stars just happened to align right this time

Haven't really done much to the Yukon lately except drive it all over. It's still the main family ride.

A couple weekends ago we took part in a back road cruise to Buc-ee's in Kentucky and someone snapped a picture of us looking for a parking spot

It’s been about a year and a half since that paint post. How’s the paint holding up?

Im extremely tempted to try my hood but its not a solid color, its a metallic gray.
The paint has held up good, but in fairness it lives in the garage and I work at home. I'll be doing some paint work again soon because I'm chopping up the HD hood soon.

Imo the hardest thing when applying paint is the prep work. If there's any imperfections on the surface it'll definitely show through the new paint.

I got a nice little dent in the front of the hood that needs work. I haven’t noticed anything else major….

Realistically I have nothing to lose lol the hood looks like dog shit and I haven’t even paid if off yet

That's EXACTLY why I decided to paint it myself. There's no way I could have made it worse, and I didn't. It was a pretty fun project to do

Just curious, do you remember roughly what kind of quotes you were getting?
I went to Maaco and wanted 3k to paint the whole thing. The finished cars I saw there made me realize I would not have been happy with the result. I think I spent like $500 total to buy the paint, a paint gun, all the materials, and even a respirator. The only thing I had was a 20 gallon Craftsman air compressor I bought in the mid 90s. I'm happy with it. I haven't painted the rest of it yet, but I plan to do that some day

Yeah I know I wouldn’t want to cheap out of if I was paying someone to paint but even 3k is steep. My wife had a car painted at macco years ago. I’d never go to that location again

I've heard some locations are better than others and this one has a better reputation than the other Nashville location. I don't think 3k is terrible for a full body paint job, but I definitely would not have been happy with the result for paying 3k

Where’s the HD hood? lol
Still in the shed with the pool noodles.

A tree fell on my house a couple months ago during a storm and caused a lot of damage. Thankfully nobody got hurt or anything but it just felt weird screwing around with car stuff until that got fixed. Hopefully it will be all finished up by the end of next week.

Oh damn! Sorry to hear about the house! I’m sure that has not been a fun scenario! Glad everyone is ok!
