Sup guys, back again with my roommates late fathers truck we have been fixing.

ABS light and Parking Brake lights were on, and shuddering the passenger brake caliper coming to a stop.

( Whole suspension, front and back, rotors and pads, suspension and shocks, tires and everything are all brand new. Calipers seem to function fine so they didn't get replaced. Brake fluid is dark and will be flushed eventually once I find out how to do it properly given the ABS system, brakes work but are soft so I assume the trash fluid is the issue. Reservoir is full, no leaks )

Pulled the ABS fuse in the interior fuse box temporarily, installed new Hubs with Abs fuses and a quick test driving backwards after the ABS functioned fine. Drove for two days and no more lights.

Now however the ABS, Parking Brake, and now Traction Control light comes on. Testing again driving backwards shows ABS doesn't function.

This issue however comes and goes.

When the three lights are on, the T/C button doesn't turn the light off. However after cycling the keys on and off the lights will disappear. Then I can manually turn traction control on and off.

Just looking for a suggestions, apparently it can be the ABS module, or Air pump? Maybe electrical or ground issues, but if anyone has delt with this issue before please I'm all ears.

Traction Control light didn't come on before the new hubs.

Thanks!

To maximize diagnostic efforts, use a scanner that can read the codes that are setting the lights on the cluster. Post them up here along with a pic of the cluster when it's looking like a Christmas tree.
Understood. I don't have a scanner that can read brake codes. Any suggestions?

A Tech 2 would be ideal. See this link for a list of forum members who have one; if you're anywhere near them see about getting together. There's a link in the first post:

Otherwise some of the auto parts stores have scanners that will read more than the engine codes; maybe call around and ask if they have one that can read ABS codes.

As @Fless suggested, get a quality bi-directional scanner (~$300-$400) so that you can do a proper in-depth diagnosis of your issue (and future issues). Otherwise, you will spend as much or more money on the parts cannon, than you would have spent on the scanner, and maybe still not have the issue resolved.

Cleared codes and this is all of what came back.

That’s a lot of codes.

When I see this many codes, I suspect an electrical problem. I’d check all your ground connections.

^^ This ^^

Also have the battery load tested, inspect the main power cables (+ and -), and test the alternator.

It might be helpful to expand one of the codes to see if you can post Freeze Frame data for one.

a lot of codes but many are common to each other.
I think your driveability issue is the brake control module.

tpms is probably no sensors -aftermarket wheels
srs (airbag) is probably bad front impact sensors
radio -aftermarket?
hvac, actuator codes/blend door operation

none of that is uncommon for a 20 year vehicle, especially when you scan the entire system

Picked up a Autel Scan tool 900, Fantastic device.

Ended up solving the Security issues, and a window short with the diagnostics.

However after removal of the EBCM, ( Single Plug, W JL4)

It's toast. The removal of the top cap via a knife and some prying isn't possible with this module, we found that out because the factory who manufactured this particular one, put enough RTV between the lid and the actual motherboard that when trying to pry the cap off the assembly, it ripped the motherboard out of the assembly itself.

SO! lol I'm in search of a JL4 module, there was one on an Escalade at the junk yard I'm gonna try and grab but with no way to test without re assembly it's gonna be a long process.

Anyone here have any locations that have new or tested units?

Thanks!

it's possible many places may have one and it's just not listed, I would call around to junkyards to see if they have your year/make/model until you find one

Ordered on on eBay, will report back when it gets here next week when I install it.

I'll be bleeding all the dr pepper colored Brake fluid afterwards. My Autel says it's capable of ABS brake bleed command, anyone have any experience with that?

Thanks!

Autel definitely communicates with the junkyard Escalade module, canceled the eBay order.

However discovered a rounded off brake bleed screw on the passenger rear and a allen key shoved in a completely snapped off bleeder screw on the driver rear,

new calipers to be installed Thursday, then once again to try the Pre charged, and then Automatic bleed followed by a base brake bleed (that's what Alldata suggested)

Had a brake line failure on the rear passenger, brakes have been soft for a few weeks but functional, however it appears someone rounded off the fitting lol, of course.

Going to look into replacing that line. However just wanted to bump the thread. I'm going to update with the Current DTC's, I'm pretty sure the Escalade module needs programming, and we'll be all set with the traction control, abs and Brake dash lights.
