great information, thank you. Stepdaughter won't be towing or carrying heavy loads. you mentioned installing some resistors. where do you install them? Thanks again for the help.

The electric plugs that go to the shocks have two wires. You put the resistor across these two wires. One wire goes to one side of the resistor, the other wire goes to the other side. I soldered mine and covered with heat shrink. I swear I posted pics somewhere, but I can't find 'em. Problem-free since 2019. Again, this is only if converting to "regular" shocks.

wife and stepdaughter went out and bought a used 2009 Tahoe with 137,000 miles on it. has some existing problems. think i got the "reduced power" P2138 problem fixed. big problem now is a "suspension system needs serviced" message on dash window. I have no clue as to what this is other than an auto ride system that my Chilton's manual mentioned. where can i find information/repair manuals for this?
At Rockauto.com, you can buy a great Electronic Manual that is searchable for about $35.00 plus tax and shipping. I have been using it very successfully for several years. My 2005 GMC Yukon has 236K miles and about 35 K ago I bought a Rebuilt engine from Rockauto and put it in along with a new Trans. Very Happy with the decision. The first thing that I did was to replace my Air Ride suspension with a completely new OEM-type package sold out of Florida, 4 years ago for $600.It is still working fine.

It is not hard to do. I bought front and rear shocks and Pump, that is located underneith the Gas Fill on the left side.

We have a 2009 Tahoe LTZ also with 178,000 miles on it. I would not disable the air ride, we love to smooth ride you get with the air ride. I replaced the shock and air pump several years ago with OEM parts on ours. If I did it again I would remove the spare before replacing the shocks, it gives you more room to access the top bolts of the shocks. Replacing the air pump is simple. It does cost a good amount for the shocks and pump but I believe its worth it.

Got a new problem now. New code P0521 oil pressure. went and got an oil pressure sensor and screen. picked up the tahoe from stepdaughter's work and drove it home. pressure indicate less than 20 psi at idle but climbs to about 30 at 60MPH.. got home and tried to access the POS sensor and found it buried under a plastic panel. how the heck do you remove that panel, shgrt of a dremel tool? and what is it there for? am starting to wonder what other codes are gonna start popping up one after the other.

Had that same problem also. Oil pressure gauge on the dash was showing 0 oil pressure. Was going to replace the oil switch myself but decided to let the dealer do it. If you do it I would use a AC Delco / GM switch, no after market. There are plenty of on line videos on how to access it without removing the intake, but its a pretty small area to access it. Overall we have had a few codes pop up but not enough that have made me wanting to get rid of the Tahoe, we love it. Am going to replace it in the future and will stay with the full size GM SUV, my wife wants the new Escalade $$$$, but what she wants she gets, lol.

Easy to remove the upper intake. Do that for access.
thanks for that info. was trying to do it with minimal tear down, but if intake needs to be removed, guess i will have to bite the bullet. what about the plastic panel? can i leave it off in case sensor fails again, or does it retain that brake booster hose?

When I replaced my engine almost 3 years ago, I removed that plastic shield and have had no issues. I recently also had the P0521 code and was able to easily remove the oil pressure sensor without that plastic shield in the way. The only thing you should keep on back there is the metal bracket that looks like a spoon, I believe it is a protector for the fuel rail in case of a bad front end collision.
