The chips are getting a little better yes but also people are buying less cars. Some guys I listen to on YouTube said usually 16 million cars are sold every year on average, that number is projected to drop to 13 million for 2022, that is a very big loss for the car dealerships. And even further for 2023, by spring I think you’ll see rebates on top of gms for the big GM suvs.
I'm going to wait another 6 months because not only will supply improve but we'll have a better idea of 2024 updates. Also, 2024 has a bunch of new updates/vehicles to look forward to:
Rumored updates to the GM 1/2 ton SUVs and re-design of Ford Expedition. We'll see if this happens.
F150 is supposed to get a mid cycle enhancement.
Redesigned Ford Super Duty and GM HD trucks.
My Yukon XL Ultimate showed up today. Nobody knew it was coming and it still doesn’t have a window sticker. So strange. Picking it up Monday.
When did you order it?

Yea I agree I actually had an order in since august that wasn’t picked up yet and I told my salesman let guys jump me and I’ll be first for a 2024. I think they’ll do the new tahoe interiors like the Silverado refresh.

Picked up a 2023 Yukon XL Denali last week. I've had a duramax denali on order for like 6 months and it wasn't looking promising so when the dealer called about a 6.2 black/black I jumped. Couldn't negotiate away from dealer markup over MSRP but was tired of waiting and gave in when they told me it was loaded with super cruise. I didn't think we'd see a super cruise on a non Ultimate until early next year so I didn't mess around and picked it up. Initial impressions are somehow this thing feels twice as big as my 2016 XL. The upgrades in technology from my 2016 are night and day but I'm sure that means more stuff to break later!

The one I bought last week didn't have a sticker either. I thought the dealer was full of it with the MSRP they gave me but when I checked it online the sticker matched their MSRP number provided to me.

My '23 XL Denali Duramax TPW got pushed a month...it was 10/31 now 11/28. Anyone else with this TPW? Ordered mid June with 22's, max tow, air ride, titanium rush, duramax, sunroof, adaptive cruise, rear entertainment, and power running boards

Hello! Has anyone heard anything on the air ride constraints? Read a couple of posts on a yukon thread that the constraint was in place until December-ish but wasn't sure if that has been extended.

It feels like they're using Last in - First out management for the cars waiting in Midlothian. Keeping the fresh ones moving out to dealers while the rest of us wait for our sun bleached and flat tired orders in the back o_O

Yup. Old builds can definitely get blocked in by recent builds.

Boring update:

Yukon XL - originally placed on 3/28/2022 for an SLT, redid for 2023 on 7/23/2022 - no update specific to my build

Suburban Z71 - originally ordered 8/26/2022, had a TPW of 9/19, changed the order to include RSE on 9/23, this week's update I'm number 84 in line at the dealer ....

Not sure if this truck is worth the torture of waiting...

You are number 84? Is this a huge dealer ? Did you pay a deposit? I placed my order for a diesel yukon slt premium pack with max tow on September 3rd and im at event code 3000 already. I did pay a 1000 deposit and am getting the truck for 4kish off msrp.

Something sounds fishy about your dealer.

talked with the largest dealer in our area at the first of the year and they had 70+ orders waiting on allocations so yeah 84 sounds plausible. We were able to get one accepted in 1.5 months back then at a dealer 20 miles away...just takes a little calling/emailing around to find dealers that are getting allocations without long wait times

I was called today and the Dealer said I needed to drop about 1/2 of the options, upgrade to an Ultimate, or I could sit and wait with no eta. I had it ordered through a second dealer, same song and dance. I threw in the towel, told him to cancel it, over a year of waiting and I am done. On the bright side the company vehicles will no longer have any GM's left in the fleet in 3 months. Between myself and the family owned business we were doing around $750k a year in vehicle purchases, the fleet was 100% GM 3 years ago, it is now sadly less than 5%. GM just can't deliver. They can blame the chip shortage all they want, but we have been able to buy from other manufacturers without issue. GM needs to stop introducing new upper end vehicles and support the tried and true models consumers buy. Hope someone else gets theirs early now.

That doesn't make any sense. Most if not all the constraints are gone now. Im sorry you had such a rough time with it. I wouldn't wait that long either. Wish you luck in whatever else you decide!

Appreciate the perspective! I may look around more next month. I already feel a little guilty having two on order when there’s a whole forum of us waiting.

It’s the same, high volume dealer where DFW Clay got his Silver Sage in under a month (with RSE) which is what prompted me to update the order thinking it would just set me back 3 weeks. Yes, $1k deposit too.

Constraints may be gone, but his dealer may not have an allocation for his config...
Unfortunately both of the dealers are #1 and #2 in the Western US, and both have told me to drop the 3.0, the adaptive cruise, towing, and a few others, or order an Ultimate and they can have it in a few weeks. I don't see many 3.0 Denali's available, or being shipped.

This....so much this!

I understand that you can't just stop everything, but it is immensely frustrating to see GM advertising all their great new models coming out, and seeing that certain higher end, and higher dollar versions seem to be getting pushed through while we have been waiting 8 months for an order with no end in sight....

That’s called….business. In a supply constrained environment, any business would push the supply to the highest profit portion of their business.
