Thanks for the replies, I just reset the oil range back to 100% and will do it again at the next oil change.

in my opinion the oil should be changed regularly at 3000 miles, regardless of what any spec or book tells you, it's just good maintenance.
Also it is good for the cylinder shut off system to keep the oil clean, there may not be any "studies" out there but it is generally believed that doing this may help prevent problems with collapsed lifters.
That is complete Overkill IMHO. 5K miles should work just fine as long as you are not constantly short tripping and constantly doing extremely long idling. At 5K miles my oil life is anywhere from 24-33%. Depends on how much gridlock I get into. I use either 0w20 Mobil 1 Truck&Suv oil or 0w20 AC Delco.

just habit for me I guess, knock on wood I have never had internal engine problems on numerous vehicles except for 1 that I bought with a existing engine problem.

I stick with 5k and full synthetic. I've ran many vehicles to over 200k and this has worked well. No oil analysis needed unless you see really dark oil or weird consumption.

My last service truck was a 2015 3500 HD with the 6.0L. Changed every 5k. Replaced at 165k with a new RAM (it up your tailpipe.....absolutely hated that truck). The silverado never used a drop of oil, idled for 35 hours straight sometimes as needed. Ran her hard pretty much every day. Had over 8000 hours when traded, never 1 engine failure or repair. I'd buy another in a heartbeat.

So, for the daily driver hauling just a** and air, just stay to 5k with a good synthetic and quality filter and you'll be just fine. IMO
