Hoping this rust metal primer sticks good to the aluminum, I probably could have roughed it up better, but if it runs long enough for the paint to start peeling I will consider it a win, lol
I usually use a 'self-etching' spray primer for magnesium & aluminum.....

1/8". They were maybe an eighth away from touching.

I tried to let it go when I saw it last night but had to set The Universe straight this morning cuz I'm fighting odd vibes due to an unforeseen event that took place on my way to the gas station an hour ago.

Whew! Moving on...
thanks. Sometimes one is just not thinking about the least common demonomitaor and simplifying fractions.

Good to see you back! I bet that was a great road trip. How long did it take you?
The whole trip was right at 80 hours. I've driven coast to coast a few times before so I just hammered through this one without stopping at any sights. I had to keep the speed around 60 mph so it was 18 hours of driving, stop to sleep 4 hours and shower, then another 18, for a little over 3 days.

I listened to about half of the audiobook version of David Foster Wallace's "Infinite Jest" along the way.

I read something about that, and then decided to just smear on what I had. Realized afterwards I forgot to add hardener to the red, so I'm not real confident in this paint job, lol

Nice. I took that ride back in 2017 hauling 2 lambos coast to coast. Took us 6-7 days iirc. 1 day to fly back lol.

I used Hammerite crinkle finish on mine. They’re finally starting to peel a little after 2-3 years. I just cleaned them with laquer thinner first.

I'm probably gonna mix up some paint with hardener today and put another coat on. My pushrods are supposed to be here Wednesday-Friday. I think I'm pretty much done besides that. I did forget to order a crank sensor, and I'm so tired of buying parts I'm contemplating using the old one, lol

Don’t be like that guy who said “ I’m pretty sure my rear main is fine” while he had his transmission out only to have it fail a few months later.

I really didn’t think the lower radiator hose was going to be difficult. It would help if GM didn’t do away with the radiator petcock. Great word btw. My original had it, but the new OEM one I installed did not. It also would help if I didn’t have the pump for my intercooler right there. I also must have had the transmission cooler lines disconnected when I last installed the clamp at the radiator side because I almost couldn’t get it off due to its orientation. And then the cold air intake for the blower was in the way. Not much room from above so I pulled the wheel and was barely able to get the spring clamp pliers on and wiggled and grunted until that thing came off. Now I’m taking a break because even a half hour later, there’s still coolant dripping out. And it’s starting to get hot outside. This might be a 2 day project. ;)

You need an evacuator to drain that coolant out my man. Works like a charm. I'll be doing my radiator this fall once I get all the parts together.

OK... You just might have to pull it all out and do it all over from the beginning!

Those spring clamps, if they are still factory are the worst!!!! I know I had ordered 3 different sets of hose spring pliers, for fun and good measure. Those clamps still put up a darn good fight. I think I spent more time on that lower hose clamp then the actual R/R of the rad assembly!! Tested my patience and sanity a bit

Those spring clamps, if they are still factory are the worst!!!! I know I had ordered 3 different sets of hose spring pliers, for fun and good measure. Those clamps still put up a darn good fight. I think I spent more time on that lower hose clamp then the actual R/R of the rad assembly!! Tested my patience and sanity a bit
( patience / sanity )...... You joined the club. It's what you thought was going to be simple, is what will trip ya.....:boxed:
