That’s weird that would be like that. I’ve only done the dash in my Silverado and both sides of those brackets sat perfect. Good eye.
I was working so fast that I just noticed it and kept going without thinking about it much more until later. I’m starting to hope didn’t pinch a harness under it in the back but I don’t think so. Not sure if I should sorry about it any more or not. All the rest of the holes lined up perfectly.

As soon as I wiggled the wire the fan started going again, exact same thing the wife's fan did, bad fan motor

Heat gun. Hot day. Dental Floss. Patience. Braided fishing line would work too though. Then theres all sorts of stuff to pull the rest of the adhesive off with.

IMO, a Hair dryer is too out of control. Its like a spring break heat solution; wild in the streets. Just get a heat gun from HF. If it works once it's served its purpose.
I used a plastic caulking scraper. Worked fabulously.

While I was at it turned on the ambient temp display as well

Bad fan motor or just the connector? Are you thinking the motor caused the connector to melt?
ya, the post inside the fan connector is melted a little also, it shouldn't be like that. To me this indicates there is too much resistance in the motor and it's getting hot and once they start doing that it just gets worse and worse I could just replace the connector but it would still be a problem and melt the new connector over time. The fan I replaced it with was from a 08 denali I pulled out of the junkyard a year ago and it looks perfect and had a perfect condition harness also. back in business

I turned that on in my Silvy, then realized my rear view mirror already displayed it so I turned it back off.

Seems that when I turned mine on the HVAC did some funky stuff and didn’t work right. I would have to try again to confirm what was different.
when I originally replaced the hvac control it was on and I had the dealer reprogram it because the heat wasn't working right and after they did that the display was gone but then someone mentioned turning it on in the forum a while back and I just got around to doing it, I guess I can try turning on heat again with it on and see what it does, what mine was doing before was it was staying cold in the back unless the temp was turned up to 90, if you set it for 89 or less it stayed cold

Mine does that stay cold thing too even with the display “normal” if you get a a chance look at what calibration is saved in that module for me.

if there is no rear rooftop sensor then it could be one of the ones inside the vent tube, you would have to pull the rear panel off again to get access to it and check it, they are small and are poked into the vent tube with a grommet, they can be tested with a ohm meter and a hair dryer. I haven't head of any going bad they are just a thermistor.
do you have the bose radio?

Yes, Bose.
So then above your head in the headliner there should be 2 little round grills that look like little speakers or mic's, 1 is the ambient temp sensor and the other is the a bose anc mic,
. you said previously there is none in the back? specifically above the 2nd row passenger side seat?
