You like us looking into your holes, admit it.The ARP studs are perfectly short enough to have almost no protrusion so that’s a win. Also got the steam ports drilled and ready to go, tomorrow it should be driving.
Guilty as charged! You like us looking into your holes, admit it.![]()

Nice work as always Dan. Glad you got the bolt situation figured out. I think that's about how my btr bolts looked. Wish I would've taken a pic. Glad you got the coolant holes drilled with no issues as well. Having the reroute that hose would've bothered me after a while (if it were my truck). Looks factory and should work as intended. I'm curious if the mpg improves with the more efficient heads or if it hurts it. I can definitely tell the avalanche is working less to run 80+ on the interstate so I have to assume with proper computer calibration by a trained a professional, I'd have to get better mileage than before. The ARP studs are perfectly short enough to have almost no protrusion so that’s a win. Awesome news. You did that pretty fast. Congrats. It’s alive! Got everything slapped together this morning and started it up about noon. No leaks so far and it idles and runs well besides being fairly lean. It also has slightly more noise coming from the passenger side of the motor so I think I need to check the rocker arms over there. Have only driven it 2 or 3 miles around my neighborhood, and at first I thought the noise was an exhaust leak, which it may still be it’s just to hot to touch the headers right now to check. So it’s break time!
Hopefully a rocker arm is a hair loose I can torque it back down and be good to go.

My hot idle is about 30 I believe. My Yukon is like 18-20...variable pressure pump or whatever they call itThank you thank you! Hopefully I can snug a rocker arm and eliminate the odd noise, I do wish oil pressure was higher hot idle is 25-30# but it’s a standard pump so no biggy.

My avalanche also has more noise on passenger side. More prominent sewing machine

I can definitely hear mine while driving. That's why it bothers me. Lol. It's pushrod noise but has a similar sound to piston slap, in the truck. Like a clatter sound. Underhood, it's like pushrod sewing machine, if that makes senseThat’s good to know about the oil pressures I just really hate a gauge showing less than half. Moar is bettererer after all.
My passenger side noise is more than sewing machine I think I can hear it while driving which makes me think maybe just an exhaust leak but hard to tell. It’s not necessarily a prominent taping like I’d expect a loose rocker arm to be guess I’ll find out tomorrow morning.
I get confused by the model numbers but I think you can use the newer style that plugs into the OBD2 port. UEGO maybe?Hey @Dantheman1540 which wideband is it you use? I know aem but specific one? Also, @randeez I would like your input since the one you recommended isn't available anymore. I started watching some GRG videos today. Finally found the step by step series and I think I may possibly be able to make some progress. Before, I was finding shit that was here and there and got frustrated. I'm not very YouTube savvy![]()

Hopefully it's a simple fix. I doubt anything is wrong with bottom end or lifter. You may have a cam like mine and take two different length rods lolI get confused by the model numbers but I think you can use the newer style that plugs into the OBD2 port. UEGO maybe?
It does sorta sound like piston slap so maybe that is it! I was worried it was bottom end stuff or a lifter totally died which is style a possibility lol.
I wanted the easiest possible thing. The Bluetooth option was nice and wish I could've gotten that one. I will only be using this until I get the truck dialed in. Nothing permanent except the hole in the exhaustyea the AEMS are good just grab one of those...the obd2 port plug ones should be easy to get goin if you dont mind it being plugged in all the time.

Looks like a spring of some kind. Strange. I hope it's nothing catastrophic!I’m officially concerned, found this stuff in the valve covers but see no Reason for it. All the rockers appear to be torque correctly and I even went back over them. I pull the oil filter and the oil looks all right a little bit of shiny but I don’t see any large pieces like this in the filter medium either.
The only odd looking thing is on the passenger side where it looks like maybe the spring compressor tool rubbed the spring seat a little bit. Almost positive it’s not caused by the rocker arm. I guess I’m going to putting it back up and see if it still makes noise.
